"Rather the pain of discipline, than the pain of regret!"

3/3/12 - update:
It has been 2 years since I changed this, apparently. I guess that means that now would be a good time. :)

Nothing in my family profile has changed. I would like to say that my mental status is the only thing that is different. The body is still under way. I am getting better about not looking at the scale and deciding my value. I am now paying $20 per visit and doing that at the doctor's office. Nothing in my family profile has changed. I would like to say that my mental status is the only thing that is different. The body is still under way. I am getting better about not looking at the scale and deciding my value. I am now paying $20 per visit and doing that at the doctor's office. This is better though, as the body composition profile that I get done shows me soooo much more than my scale - body fat percentage, fat distribution, water weight, etc. I like it...okay, I'm addicted. I really need to update my goals though. I need to be more specific and set up some deadlines.

3/11/10 - update:

Well, I am still Riqui. I still have three boys (Thing 1, Thing 2 and Thing 3) and I still live in upstate New York. Other than that, since the fall of last year, every other aspect of my life has changed. In some ways, for the better, and in many ways, not. I spent the last two months of 2009 and the beginning of 2010 struggling with depression and let everything that I had worked for go. I gained about 20 pounds and am back to the starting line. This time, though, I am armed with much more ammunition, knowing more about myself, my body and what I need to do.

I WILL BE running my first 5k in May, currently working on the C25K program. That is my primary goal at this point. Well, that and getting some definition back in my arms! :)

* * * * *
My name is Riqui and I live in upstate New York. I have three boys (aged 14, 9 and 4 years) that I home school and I do daycare.

I have been using this site for months now and have managed to learn more here than I have before. I really appreciate all of the knowledge and the support/motivation that is shared here! Now I just need to quit messing around and actually put it all to work in a serious manner!! :-)

I found this sight through a series of wild clickings and link chasing and am glad that I did. I hope to be able to use it to meet new people, meet new challenges and meet my goals!

My Goals:
I am currently at 24.2% body fat. My ULTIMATE goal would, probably, be to reach about 18%, although I am just shooting for 20% right now. When I get there, I will see how I feel. Right now, I set my goals up on a monthly basis. 22.5% is my current goal, and I don't go back until 4/30, so...I will give it my best each day and just keep trying to get better.

My Program:
I am currently working with the Insanity program as my "staple." I intend to finish it this time, as I only made it through week 3 before I got bored last time. I am also working Crossfit WODs in 3-4x per week. I try to keep my calories around 1500 per day, with my macros set at 45/40/15, as my BMR is about 1400. 10-14 cups of water per day.

You do like trying weird stuff, don't you? I don't think I've ever eaten kumquats!
How does it taste?

My uncle finished 1st in his category last week, and today he has a 40km cx skiing race scheduled. My aunt and I will be leaving in 10 min or so with our snow shoes. Yep, he never stops!

Hope you had a great week as you planned it! I have been down all week, and I'm trying to push myself today, but I'd rather stay in bed.

Keep on track and keep on trying new stuff!

Just want to stop by before leaving for a loooooong afternoon with my aunt.
Today's program: a 3-hour snow shoe hike, then rooting for my uncle in the cold night--he is about to take part in a 12K evening race on snow.

Wish you to have fun with or without snow! Stay on track, and far from pickled beets!

Hi Riqui,

First of all, congrats on your 2lbs loss! emoticon I am sure your team is thrilled with your loss too. How is your team doing in your office BLC?

I sort of invent "winter breakers", on the model of "spring break/breaker." Obviously, this is not spring yet here! lol Can't stop snowing here!

With school vacation, spanning from this week to mid-march (depending on French areas), we have waves of families, and it gets worst week after week.
Finally, mid-march, we will have the invasion of the rude, and dirty Parisians who think Nature belongs to them when they buy a winter package.
Mid-march, I will be in Paris anyway! hahaha

Saturday, in addition to the chores (sigh), I will go cross-country skiing or snoeshoeing, it will depend on the snow and my mood!
I always have both gear in my car, just in case.
Anyway, my snowshoes never leaves my car during winter, in case I got stuck, and need to leave the car and walk. Thankfully, it has never happens to me yet---happened to my uncle, though.
I always have a shovel, and a small broom in my trunk too... You wonder about the broom...? I don't sweep up roads! lol It is for the snow on my car, so much easier, and less cooler for the hands to use a broom, and it doesn't scratch the bodywork... the shovel is for also for snow, not to bury a dead yeti! lol

More snow is scheduled on Sunday, will see the road conditions. It might be indoor woorkout.

This afternoon, I am going to buy a Polar! Woohoo!
Do you still have snow? Snowshoeing is cool when it is powder snow, otherwise you don't really need them.

And you, what are your plans? Anything nice, and fun? Or just relaxed after working those tiring shifts?

I was a bit afraid that you might want to send me over your pickled beets! I don't think they can last the trip. Better check with your iguana! ;)

Getting one with a chest trap was part of my plan. I have seen some Polars, but don't want a device too complicated. I don't have time for a manual as big as a novel. I need something not too fancy, with not too many buttons (and buttons easy to press), and friendly user!

Good job on reducing smoking! Hopefully, your GP can prescribe you the right dose. What about zyban instead of chantix?

Hope you'll have a great weight-in today.

Wish you a great start to the week!
Val

Hey big spender,

I'm so jealous of your new HRM and dreadmill!! It's on my wishlist! For the moment, I would have no room to store the latter, but I'm going to buy the first one this upcoming week downtown.
What kind of HRM did you buy? Any advice or questions I should ask the seller?

How is it going with Chantix? No hallucinations?
If yes, I wish you to see a sexy actor in your bathroom.... not an old crooner like I did!
Have you already set up a "quit" date? Care to share it with me?

After a few days off, I am back and ready to go cx skiing! A beautiful sun is scheduled for all the week as of today! (Temperatures are still minus 0 celsius, mind you.)

Wish you a great weekend outdoors if weather permits, or a fun weekend on your treadmill!
Val
