Thanks for stopping by! I'm 55 years old and from New England. Recently widowed after 26 years of marriage. I have one child, a son, who is 22 years old. I've been retired since 2008.. I worked 30 years, full time, for the state government doing bookkeeping work for developmentally disabled people and people with mental health issues. I'm no longer working due to health issues.
I didn't have a weight problem all my life. I started gaining weight in my mid-twenties. Before that, I had no clue what it felt like to be the fat chick. Now, I can see clearly from both sides of the fence. Overweight people are the most discriminated group.
They are discriminated in every area of life. It becomes a handicap on so many levels.
I'm here to try the best I can in changing my life for the rest of my life. I'm hoping to help others and make friends on this journey. Lord knows, I need all the help I can get and if I can't find it here; I can't find it anywhere. Different things and approaches work for different people. In the final analysis though, it all comes down to the choices we make and not so much what happens to us on our journey through life, but how we react to what happens along the way. My motto is "Just Do It" Don't think about it, or talk about it; just do it. and the more you go through the motions, the more it will start to stick and become a habit.
I believe my weight problem is mostly due to emotional turmoil. I had a very difficult childhood (or should I say lack of childhood) and teen years and things have gotten so much more complicated since that time. The one place I always knew that I could find comfort and didn't have to look to far or be rejected was with food. I will be strong and won't give up! I don't expect to be perfect and not falter. I know this will happen. But, I will not quit! I will pick myself up, dust myself off, and get right back on track. On this journey I hope to help others find the motivation it'll take to keep the wheels in motion in their life. I'm always ready to listen and help. I look forward to exchanging knowledge and support with new friends. So lets toast (water on the rocks) to friendship and weight loss. Be well, be strong...Jackie

"Have patience with all things, but first with yourself. Never confuse your mistakes with your value as a human being. You're a perfectly valuable, creative, worthwhile person simply because you exist."

-St. Francis De Sales

YOU CAN DO IT!
One seed at a time and the garden grows;
One drop at a time and the river flows.
One word at a time and the book is read;
One stroke at a time and the paint is spread.
One chip at a time and the statue's unveiled;
One step at a time and the mountain is scaled.
One thing at a time and that done well
Is the only sure way to succeed and excel.
You can write, you can paint, you can sculpt or
climb;
You can do it by taking one step at a time.

    emoticon Love seeing that you are working on your goals. I'm doing fine. Have six months from today until CHRISTMAS so I'm setting new goals, as I want to give myself the gift of "GOOD HEALTH" on 12-25.

    I love that you are a Capricorn with a Moon in Cancer. Capricorn is a great sign for a woman to be and the Moon is at it's best in Cancer. But with your sun and moon opposite, I'd say there was problems between your parents. Also, this can be an issue for the Sun/Moon person. (My brother is a Gemini with a Moon in Sagittarius and he didn't get married until he was 45 since he never wanted to be "tied down.") The Capricorn woman needs a good stable man that she can be behind and guide.

    I love astrology because it fits our lives, but I don't know why.

    THE JELLY BEAN PRAYER

    Red is for the blood he gave.
    Green is for the grass he made.
    Yellow is for the sun so bright.
    Orange is for the edge of night.
    Black is for the sins we made.
    White is for the grace he gave.
    Purple is for the hour of sorrow.
    Pink is for our new tomorrow.
    A bag full of jelly beans colorful and sweet
    is a prayer, a promise, a loved oneís treat.
    May the joy of Christís Resurrection fill your heart and bless your life!

    I asked God for a rose and he gave me a garden.
    I asked God for a drop of water and he gave me a lake.
    I asked God for an angel and he gave me you
    Happy Valentine's Day.
