My daughter, Ariana...my reason for wanting to succeed on this journey.
Newport, RI Love this pic! Always inspirational!
Hi everyone and welcome to my sparkpage! I'm Angie :) I'm 30 and originally from RI but currently living in central Massachusetts. I have a daughter, Ariana who is 7. She's autistic so every day is faced with its share of challenges and blessings. She's the #1 reason I took the first step of my journey towards getting healthy. I want to have the energy to do things with her, the patience to understand her and to be around for a long long time. The past year and a half have been the toughest I've ever had to face and I've done the best I could. Life can change in the blink of an eye and the only thing within my control is how I react to these things. For a long time I've been holding on to a lot of things that weren't doing me any good. Whether it was negative things that were said to me throughout the years, anger, resentment, thoughts and feelings of inadequacy, keeping around people that mistreated me because it was easier than saying goodbye, a pack a day cigarette habit, or my unhealthy addiction to food that was putting my health in jeopardy. Slowly but surely I'm gaining control of my own life and getting rid of the dark clouds of negativity, self doubt and harmful habits. It's been 6 months since my last cigarette, I've said goodbye to people that were no good for me, I've stopped drinking caffeine all together and I'm a few months into my weight loss journey and 20 pounds lighter, I'm eating healthier, feeling better and stronger, moving a whole lot more and finally enjoying being me! I've struggled with my weight my entire life and I will not struggle with it another minute longer. An unhealthy sedentary life style wasn't serving me in the least. I'm done being the way I was and am looking towards the future.
Thank you for taking the time to read this...I'm always up for meeting new people on the journey and will always offer more support than I would ever take so don't be shy, comment, mail, add. It's all good.
total goal 60 pounds...
I use to have a list of little things I would do for every 10 pounds. Now, I realize that feeling this great and having this much energy is it's own reward to keep me motivated.
Long term goals:
Lower blood pressure
Look good naked
Cardio 6 days a week 45+ minutes.
I religiously do either Jillian Michaels 30 day shred or ripped in 30 daily. The rest of the time is spent on the elliptical, dancing in it's many shapes and forms or walking/hiking. I try to keep moving as much as possible.
Strength Training 5 days a week alternating areas. I use a combination of medicine balls, dumbbells, my own body weight, bands, and a stability ball to accomplish this.
I aim for 10,000 steps a day. I'm usually within this range except for on my rest day.
Pilates 4 times a week. I have a short routine I do and it's greatly added to my flexibility.
Diet 1500 calories a day
Watching the fat, sugar and sodium. Making sure I get enough protein and the right kinds of carbs. I stopped going out to eat...especially the fast food. I try to make as much as I can at home without having to rely on boxes and cans.
Drinking at least 8 cups of water a day.
