As I am now...

I can do it. I can meet my goals. I will find strength in God to be healthy and whole both spiritually and physcially. My physical health correlates with my spiritual health and the way that I treat my body is a reflection of how I view God's creation in me. I will not be lazy and take advantage of his creation by not caring for my body. I will thank him for my health each day as I strive to be more healthy not because I am vain but because I value what God has created by creating me. ...
Laziness is not a choice I will make. Giving up is not an option. I need direction, a plan, and I need to stick to it. I would love helpful hints for weight loss and easing into physical exercise. I have not found a form of exercise that I love enough to keep going. Any suggestions from someone who is in my situation would be great. I have two boys and have not lost the weight I said I would after they were born. I'm hopeful that by using this as a tool for showing me my reality, I'll be able to get a handle on what my issues with health and weight loss are.

My Goals:
To lose weight and find a pattern for living that I love that will help me keep off the weight this time. To focus on God rather than being consumed with how much I do or do not eat each day. Shift my priorities so that food is not an issue in my life.

My Program:
I'm counting my calories and exercising by riding no less than five miles on my bike 3 times a week. I'm also drinking lots of water and avoiding soda--even diet soda. I am staying away from fried foods and sweets. I am finding alternatives to meet my cravings. I'm chewing sugarless gum to replace eating/grazing.

Personal Information:
I am a teacher in Indiana. I grew up in Kenya, have two boys and a wonderful husband. I live and breathe because God made me and I am sustained by his grace in my life.

Other Information:
I now understand how little mere travel gives to a man. Unless his spirit expands with the growing space about him, he returns the same man as he went out.

Hello Rhaecates!
Welcome to Sparkpeople, and thank you for adding me as a friend. It is so appreciated. You and I are at the same weight thereabouts. I had started gaining in the past year or so and have stuck to SP nevertheless. I have been going through major life changes so I am extremely grateful to have had SP to prevent further damage.

I have a strong belief in God and appreciate that you want your focus to be about reaching out and now settling within. I struggle with food cravings and bingeing. I joined the Living Binge Free Team and especially like the 21-day-binge-free thread, which is do-able and inspiring. The women on that thread are so often my kindred spirits.

I especially love the photographs of you and your beautiful boys. You are fotunate to have so much love and support around you. That will hold you in good stead in your weightloss goals.

Do stay in touch and we can monitor each other throughout. I am running every day for 40 minutes and trying to get an hour walk in in the evenings. My children are almost grown and I know that when you have young children, it is not always easy to find the time to work out. You have to be really creative and willing to ask for that time from others who can free you up for it. Be daring. All the best, Ta, Reggieowdl
