Metamorphosis

"It's not that some people have willpower and some don't. It's that some people are ready to change and others are not."
~ James Gordon, founder of The Center for Mind-Body Medicine

After just over a year on SparkPeople, my day-to-day life is different. I have more energy, less pain, more mobility, more desire to get out there and MOVE instead of sitting at my desk all day, day after day.

~ James Gordon, founder of The Center for Mind-Body Medicine

After just over a year on SparkPeople, my day-to-day life is different. I have more energy, less pain, more mobility, more desire to get out there and MOVE instead of sitting at my desk all day, day after day.

When I started SparkPeople on October 29, 2009, I could stand and work in the kitchen or elsewhere for about 20 minutes at a time before my back started to hurt badly. I walked up stairs reluctantly and slowly, planting both feet on one step before moving to the next. I had a handicapped permit because of pain and always parked as close as possible to the store. I had below-average energy.

Fast-forward to today. I ride my bike, eat sensibly and deliciously, carry things up and down the stairs one foot per step and sometimes without handrails, work on my feet for well over an hour at a time, park far from the store and walk, sleep well, and have tons of energy. I cooked on Thanksgiving for eight straight hours. I was sore the next day, but I did it!

I still have the handicapped permit, but I almost never use it.

My life gets better every day. Woohoo!!!
