Well as you can see, I've been on and off this page for several years now and unfortunately, I still haven't lost down to my goal weight. In fact, this year I actually regained my weight and once again saw my all-time high plus a few pound!
I'm not getting any younger and that fact was even more apparent as I attended several funerals in the month of March. Two of those were close to my age, one died of cancer and the other was a diabetic. I decided right then and there that I wanted to take better care of myself. So here I am, once again...and this time I'm winning the battle and I will see this fight through to the end!!
Well, something in my brain feels like it finally clicked! But I'm only one week into this battle. I was recently back up to 182 lbs, as of today I'm 179...I've increased my walking and now I'm going to start tracking my calories! Wish me luck as I make another attempt to to become a healthier, better ME!
Halfway through the year and I'm still fighting this battle! It's been a while since I used Sparkpeople, but I want to get back to blogging and finding the support I need to keep going.
At the moment I weigh 178, which is 13 lbs gained back from the weight loss a few years back. Good news is that I'm still under my alltime high of 192. So, wish me luck as I tried my hardest to get back on track.
Currently I am working on getting more activity in, which for now is walking everyday. My goal is one mile a day @ 3 mph everyday during the month of June. July I will up the distance to 1 1/2 - 2 miles. Slow and steady wins the race.
It is April, the beginning of the second quarter...I thought it would be an appropriate time to look at what I've accomplished so far this year and set goals for the next few months.
1) Started exercising
2) Eat a healthy breakfast most mornings
3) Began using my Wii Fit again
4) Lost 3 lbs
5) Lost a few inches
GOALS FOR APRIL - JUNE
1) Up my gym workouts to 5 times a week (from 3 & 4)
2) Eat healthier in the afternoons once I get home
3) Use Wii Fit on weekends and other days I don't get to the gym
4) Lose 8 lbs by July 1
5) Go from comfortable 16 to comfortable 14.....

1/17/09: 170.0 lbs (not much progress, but I'm still trying)
2/6/09: 174.5 lbs (hopefully this will drop as I workout more!!)
3/3/09: 175.6 lbs (start of week six and still no loss...but I know with continued effort, it will happen!!)
3/11/09: 173.4 (hopefully I'm on the way to 160's!!)
3/26/09: 171.8 (just maybe!!!)
5/12/09: 172.4 ( I guess I'll call this maintaining!)
5/13/09: 168.8 (I don't know how, but last night before step class I weighed 170.0 at the gym, before I went to bed last night I weighed 170.0 and this morning before I took my shower I weighed 168.8)
Hello, I am on a journey to lose weight, become healthier and I'm looking for all the motivation I can get! My friend Terri introduced me to Sparkpeople and I was excited about what I saw when I visited. This appears to be a great medium that can be used to just be yourself...discuss successes and our failures (and if you are like me, there will be many). So...let me introduce myself....
I am a 50 year old mother of 3, grandmother of 9 beautiful grandchildren. I have fought a weight problem most of my life. I have lost almost 25 pounds this year and I am determined to lose 43 more before my next birthday in September 2009.
I grew up in rural Louisiana....and we all know how good the food is in Louisiana! I have a ton of analogies concerning my weight! 1) I was born fat 2) my mom jinxed me 3) my miserable first marriage, 4) my great second marriage and my favorite...I took after my grandpa, I got his girth, but just didn't get any of the height!!
So, now determined to find my inner self (it's surrounded by lots of fat)...I am trying to eat better and I think about exercising alot!! I did really well for a while, but lately I've been in a slump!! So, I'm hoping this is the new motivation I need......
10/26/08: 169.4 lbs (at least it is still under 170!)
12/15/08: 175 lbs (okay, I'm up more than I would like, but I'll never give up!!

This morning, September 5, 2008...I weighed 168.4 lbs. my longterm goal is to weigh 125...my shortterm goal is to lose the next 8.4 lbs....
Actually my short term goal is to lose the next pound. I've been somewhat maintaining since June...it's time that I see the lbs start disappearing again.
As of April 5, 2009...still working on my goal...but I have had some successes...new goals listed under the introduction.
July 2014...I'm feeling better than I felt in years. Counting steps and counting calories!
In the past I followed weight watchers...this time I'm using a tracking device and I'm counting calories and counting steps. I'm walking 3 - 5 miles a day and zumba twice a week.
I have been married to my husband for 30 years November. We have 3 girls, 2 from my first marriage and 1 from his first marriage. The girls are 37, 33 & 33. We have nine wonderful grandchildren...Nicholas 21, Caylin 16, Aliyah 13, Dylan 12, Brittany 11, Elijah 11, Ty 9, Lindsay 9 and Tiffany 7.
My interest include...genealogy..and I love listening to all genres of music.
