Taryn's "Big" Adventure

I am trying to lose about 20lbs by eating very healthy and exercising at least an hour a day five days a week. I am also working on raising my low self-esteem and confidence.

My biggest issues are sugar (I am so addicted!) and drinking with friends. I am not as bad as the average student, but I still have too many. I need to learn to say no. I also have a problem with portion control and eating when I am bored at night.

My Goals:
-Lose 20-25lbs
-Cut out my addiction to sweets
-Exercise at least 1 hour minutes 5x per week
-Increase self-esteem and body image (get rid of negative self talk!)
- Feel comfortable with how I look

My Program:
-Follow a whole foods, vegan diet
-Avoid processed foods, especially sugar, fried and fast food in general. Limit intake of processed vegetarian "meats."
- Enter in all calories regardless of whether it is good or bad and portion control (do not go over calorie limit)
- Eat lots of vegetables!

Personal Information:
I am an English student who is trying to find a balance in life.

143: 3 new vegan cookbooks
140: A pedometer, a nice pair of shoes and a manicure
135: 60 minute Massage and fancy new workout clothes
130: All new clothes.
125: A new bikini and a trip to a beach or pool to show myself off!

HEYY! SO, you left a wallpost on my profile sooo long ago, and I feel so rude for never responding - but better late than never, right? Haha. I should have kept up with sparkpeople but school became the focus of my every minute, essentially.. but no more! I'm back to stay.

Anyway, I have definitely struggled as a feminist to reconcile my desire to lose weight with the whole idea that society wants women to be skinny and demure.. BUT I definitely think that, first and foremost, we have to be happy with ourselves - and as long as you focus on the fact that you want to be the healthiest you you can be, it shouldn't be a problem. Once I stop comparing myself to other women and start focusing on how my body feels and strengthens when I eat right and exercise, that's what makes it worth it for me, and I don't think that's anti-feminist at all.. And the confidence that comes with it will inevitably spread into other areas of my life, which makes it even more worthwhile.

And you didn't have to apologize for opening up, I wish more people did :)
