Hi, I'm Ren, and I'm a binge eater. (This is where everyone nods sympathetically and says, "Hi, Ren.") I've been suffering from depression since 2008, if not longer. Self-pity is my best friend. Just after I thought I'd finally turned my life around in August 2011, I went on to gain about 50 pounds between that December and today. I had a major emotional breakdown March 2012, which doubled as an emotional epiphany, and ever since then, I've been on a slow, winding path into the dark corners of my mind. For the first time in my life, my first priority isn't to lose weight, but to finally understand and address why I'm so darn sad. Progress is slow, and some days feel hopeless, but I have faith that I'll find what I need someday, even if it takes a lifetime!

"Eating in the Light of the Moon" by Anita Johnston is a self-help book for disordered eating. It's unlike ANY of its kind, I promise, and really saved me from the brink. It's based completely on emotional acceptance and nurturing. If you have an eating disorder, or any kind of negative feelings about food or your weight, I BEG you to read it! Here's a link:
