2010, What Will You Bring?

I'm now 50 and not much lighter which is kind of frustrating.

On the up side I completed eleven 1/2 marathons making a total of 29 to accompany my one full. I also got a personal best for a 1/2 of 3:09 and one for a 5K of 44 minutes despite the lack of weight loss progress; confirming that anyone can do this type of race.

During 2010 I'm going to push myself to kick the munchie habit. I've joined another team to try to keep myself accountable. This is really hard ...

During 2010 I'm going to push myself to kick the munchie habit. I've joined another team to try to keep myself accountable. This is really hard to put out there but being public about my challenge might just keep me on track. But whatever happens I'm going to work to keep myself healthy which is the number one priority.

2010 will also bring more 1/2 marathons, which means more travel; something that I look forward to. Right now we're set for Myrtle Beach, New Orleans, Okalahoma City, and Colfax in Denver with several more on the table. Some new additions to the race schedule are Slacker - a high altitude race here in Colorado; Flying Pig in Cincinatti; Flying Pirate in Outer Banks, NC; Diva in Long Island, NY; and Rock n Roll Denver. I'm looking at a midnight race near Area 51, a race in Florida and another in Outer Banks.

I have added Fit Soldier's Bootcamp twice a week which is quite the workout! Am also trying to go to the gym at least once a week on top of everything.

I will continue to step outside my comfort box by doing new things often.

A short update since I guess I'm "Motivator of the Day".

During 2011 I found out I had Lymphoma, but continued to train and race during my 6 rounds of chemo, and completed my 50th half marathon. I posted a couple blogs about it. I also had a breast cancer scare which turned out as just that. No breast cancer found. I'm now just waiting for a clear PET scan so I can say I'm in total remission.

This year is in a holding pattern until I get that clear scan, but do have a few races in the works.

Guess I'll have to update my page completely soon... lol.

No matter what life gives you, just keep going.

My Goals:
My main goal is to stay healthy. In order to maintain my health and improve upon it I am working to loose more than 50 pounds.

My Program:
I am doing strength and resistance training 2 times each week and walk between 4 and 8 miles 3 to 4 time a week. The walking is in conjunction with training for 1/2 marathons which I do on a regular basis.

Personal Information:
I'm a Colorado native and raised in Westminster. Have been married for more than 25 years and have 2 wonderful sons. I work part-time as a substitute teacher.

Other Information:
I love painting and crafting and have sold many items via craft fairs and through personal referals.

After completeing a full marathon in January 2004, I turned to doing 1/2 marathons after a year break. Training for 1/2 marathons has become almost an obsession. I am always looking for a new race in a new place and love to travel to my races. I have completed 29 1/2 marathons, 11 of which were in 2009. In 2010 I hope to do at least 10 to 12 more 1/2 marathons plus several smaller races. My husband and a few friends join me for some of the trainings and races when possible. We are always open to having others join us. I feel that doing a 1/2 marathon is a completely do-able feat no matter your athletic ability (or lack of it). With the right training and support anyone can do it.
