12-21-15 - Will update over the holidays when I have more time. Goal for 2016 - take and make the time for health. I have become a slug. It's so much easier to play games on my cell phone than track my food. :( How lame is that?!!

2012 - Kids are grown and gone, my Daddy died four years ago and I no longer have him to care for. I have been totally lost without him in my life. In February 2011, I got a little dog. People kept telling me that I was so use to caring for someone I needed to get a dog. I got Tenshi at the local rescue shelter. He's manchester terrier/minpin and we have really gotten into walking. Amazing what a motivator he is. We've been doing training classes ever since I got him, I would like for him to be a therapy dog. Of course, I want to lose weight, but more importantly, I want to be fit. I want to be able to walk up a hill and not feel like I'm going to have a heart attack. My knees are really bad and there are days when I can barely walk, but I take Tenshi and hobble along. :) By the way, Tenshi is Japanese for Angel. We got to live in Okinawa for several years and fell in love with the people.

My Mom was overweight, my Daddy was a little bitty guy. He loved being called a "Lean, Mean, Marine". My first marriage was to a very abusive alcoholic. The words that are spoken to you become ingrained and it is so hard to get past them. He use to tell me that if I kept eating I was going to be as big as my mom. He told me I was so fat, no one would touch me with a 10 foot pole. The worst was that "when we go out in public, no one can tell I'm an alcoholic, but it's there for all the world to see what a fat "b...." you are". I weighed 124 pounds. I ran away and joined the Marine Corps. The recruiter told me they weren't allowed to touch you. WOW A nine week vacation!! Pick me! There I met my second husband. We wanted to have children, so I got out of the Corps. I gained weight, never quite lost it all. In fact, I had become what my first husband had predicted, almost as big as my mom. After 12 years we divorced. I never did get down to that Marine Corps weight and fitness level. Living with my dad and raising my girls, food was my best friend. At my highest, I got to 250 pounds. The day I saw that number on the scale, I had my wake up call! I started walking with one of our nursing directors who was retired Navy. Since December 2009, I've lost 70 pounds.

My new coworker, Heather, told me about this site. It is awesome!!!! Thank you, Heather!!! I think the tracking thing will really be a motivator for me. I really like being being able to actually see what I've done for the day, nutrition wise, and think about what I need to do to have a better day tomorrow.

My oldest daughter is getting married May 24, 2013. I want to reach my goal weight by then. Totally doable!

Personal Information:
My name is ReGina. I was born at Camp Lejeune, NC. My mom and dad both were Marines. I graduated from high school at Camp Lejeune. 10 years later, I joined the Marine Corps and was stationed half an hour away at Cherry Point! I made it a long way from home. hee hee I have lived in Asheville, NC for almost 15 years. It's the longest I have ever lived anywhere! Prior to coming here, the longest I had lived in one house was almost five years. :)

Other Information:
My favorite authors are Janet Evanovich and Jude Devereaux. Someone at work, recently introduced me to Lee Childs and the Reacher books. Awesome!! My favorite music is beach music. If you're not from the Carolinas, you probably don't know what that is. I'll introduce you to it! :) I love to sew and make crafts. I haven't sewn in many years. I did craft shows when I lived in Okinawa. I have recently moved and now have a room that can be my craft room. There are so many boxes everywhere that had been in the garage. I may have too much stuff to be able to organize it. Gasp! Any volunteers to help me? :)

REGINAMAYE I am copying some fromof what you wrote on my page
"I'm having trouble figuring all this out, too. I don't know if I can post a reply on my page and you see it. So, I'm playing it safe and posting on yours." I thinK I usually go to the senders page to say thank you for something or just to "talk" but now that I have said that who knows what I will do!! I can't use the trackers for food etc. as I most of the time have no idea what is in the meals we get here. My exercise is so little, and I do bits at a time. Don't really know how to do it any way. Went once to see if I could put a weight tracker down and could not figure out how to so it. My memory is getting worse to, oh to be young again! I also tried to re do my Spark Page since it says I am 77, I will be 83 in about a week, but I couldn't get it to let me do it. Glad to have you as a friend, and I am so proud of your walking so far. Going up hill you are using different muscles too so even though it is less mileage I bet you are burning as many calories. Better do something around here, Sending hugs, Betty emoticon

ReGina, I had a letter all done and hit something that made it disappear. Thanks for the goodie, it brightened my day. Not only is my hubby gone but the kids are all up in Tahoe for a bridal shower. They will be down next week. the wedding will be up there too and I hope I will be able to attend. I need to get quite a few pounds off (not all before then{Aug} but enough to help me get out of my chair and bed easier.
We adopted a Chihuahua/Terrier about 8 years ago. He does keep me companny and here at the assisted living facility, everyone greets him BEFORE they acknowledge me! He is shy, but lets everyone pet him or even pick him up, with some his tail is tuched under and others it's wagging. I can't f figure out his reasoning, but as long as they think he is happy they are happy. If I could stand I could teach him how to turn when he dances on his hind legs, but they love it anyway. Should stop before I write a book. Sending love and hugs, Betty emoticon

Stopping by to say hi.I use to live in 29 Palms.I was also married to" Psycho" Cop at the time.I lasted 7 months with him and went back year later for 11 months. You would think working probation I would know better.I now live in the high desert mountains between Palm Springs and Temecula. My 21 year old daughter is in Afghanistan.I constantly worry about her because she is at a base under constant fire.My 24 yr old son is a college student. The service doesn't interest him.Once I lived in the Norther Calif mountains with over 5,000 books in a 24 ft travel trailer plus my oldest daughter who was a young teen at the time.I gutted the RV so I would have room for the book cases.(My daughter hates me to this day because I moved her to a home with out a indoor power or running water..It is no picnic hauling 35 gal of water to a horse whos corral is up hill.
Now in my older age I still love the mountains, but want to have all the normal comforts of home.Which my 10x50 supply's.However I now have over 15,000 books. My children gave me a Beagle puppy two yrs ago for Christmas. He is my soul mate.I also have my daughters soul mate a large orange male cat.If I could send him to his mamma in Afghanistan I would. His momma misses him so much.My son also has a black and white kitten that actually followed me home a few months ago.I guess she didn't want a coyote to eat her.
We love some of the same authors.Happy Mother's Day emoticon
