Hi, I'm Nancy. I've been here at Sparkpeople since May of 2008. My struggles are to keep off the weight I work so hard to loose. It's a real challenge but worth the effort to keep it off. Currently I'm working on a 20 pd. loss and getting back to walking.

I'm the mother of 3 teens.
I'm a New Testement Christian meaning I only practice what I read in the Bible. I love the Lord and want to please HIM.

TELL US YOUR STORY.

I'll start at the beginning. I've thought myself to be overweight my entire life. At 5'7" and 124 pounds I was anything but fat. That was my marriage weight 27 years ago. In the first 2 years of marriage I put on 8 pounds but at my height that still wasn't bad. After the birth of my first child and then again my second, all the weight came off. I was 132 but still thought I was fat. Truly I thought myself overweight but I wasn't. After the birth of my third child I lost all but 4 pounds. I then weighed 136 and stayed at that weight for several years. But then I started to see the scale climb higher and higher. I lost weight many times only to gain it right back until I got fed up and went to LA Weight Loss several years ago. I weighed in at 156 which horrified me. In 3 months time I lost the 20 pounds I was striving to loose. It's amazing how even 5 pounds can change your look and your outlook.

I found Sparkpeople in May of 2008 and wished I had found it earlier. It was good for me to see a real person 3 times per week but sparkpeople has been a great weight loss tool filled with wonderful people that have helped me with my goals. Sparkpeople is helping me maintain the weight I lost and take a few more off in the process.

I no longer see myself as fat or obese but simply out of shape. I have learned that our society puts images of health and beauty that are not real or realistic into our minds by way of TV, Magazines, etc. I'm a real person with a real body, good and bad and I'm happy with that.

THE OBSTACLE IN OUR PATH
In ancient times, a king had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it.

Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the big stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. On approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. As the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the king indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many others never understand.

Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve one's condition.

My Goals:
To get fit and healthy.
Wear the clothes I
want not what I have
to wear. I would like
to feel confident about how I look and stop hiding the roll around
my waist.
I want to be maintaining a weight of 130-132 by Thanksgiving.


My Program:
Eat sensible.... WW
Eat my fruits and veggies...
Drink my water....
Walk at least 3 times per week....
Do strength exercises 3 times per week....
Be patience with results....



Personal Information:
I'm 46 and the mother of three great kids (2 boys, 1 girl). I live in Alabama and stay very active with school, church, and family. I enjoy reading, watching a good movie, photography, and whatever my family has going on at the time (band, church, etc....).


Other Information:
Love Music of most every kind. Loved the Music in "The Last of the Mohicans"
I also enjoy acoustical guitar.
My kids are all very musically inclined. The oldest plays Trumpet and Ukulele, Middle plays Trumpet, Piano, and Mandellin, and my daughter plays Flute, Piccolo, Piano, and is Drum Major for the High School band.
My boys are Eagle Scouts! Very Proud of them for their hard work to achieve that rank.
But most of all my kids are Christians and Love the Lord....all the rest is just blessings from God.
