Hi!!! I'm still on the path to a healthier me. I've made some great strides forward in the past months as well as falling down a few times as well. I've learned that falling down is not the end of the world, but that I can get back up stronger and better than before I fell, learn from the mistake, and move on. I'm also learning how to make my boys active participants so that we're all learning to make smart choices in how to care for our bodies and minds inside and out. I have a lot of goals, hopes, and dreams for 2012 as you will see by my 2012 goals blog and my profile, but I'm feeling more confident than I have in long time about my ability to meet those goals.

I'm looking forward to a great year here on SP with all my Sparkbuddies. I plan to visit the website most days to give and receive support, because I've also learned that I cannot do this alone and I don't have to do this alone. I look forward to my interactions with my fellow Sparkers; it keeps me focused and happy to be a part of this dynamic community. However, I've also learned that I can't spend all of my time on SP (reading & typing doesn't burn many calories or build much muscle); I'm learning to balance my time in the virtual world with my time applying what I'm learning from the websites resources as well as from my fellow Sparkers to my real life.

So here's to a great new year of successful Sparking and reaching all my goals.

My Goals:
1. Create a healthier lifestyle for myself and my kids.

2. I will reach my goal weight this year through slow, steady weight loss.

3. I will make progress on including 3 hobbies that are important to me into my life more regularly...these are photography, playing my music (clarinet right now, but if I can add a piano to my home some time in the future I would like to include that as well though that will be well in the future financially), and learning Spanish.

4. I will continue to look for the right career for me.


My Program:
In order to create a healthier lifestyle I am including my kids in this journey. We will plan our meals together so that we all learn how to put together a healthy meal plan; we will shop for groceries together so that we all learn how to read nutrition labels and make smart choices on even the ingredients of our meals; we will cook together so that we all learn how to prepare healthy foods; and we will eat together just to enjoy the time together and to learn how to eat healthily as well. I am using SP's calorie & nutritional recommendations that are based on my weight loss goals and my current progress; however, for the boys, I'm just focusing on teaching them to make smart choices on what and how much they eat...moderation, not exclusion will be the key.

We will exercise together. I will probably exercise more than my boys, but I'm expecting them to go on walks with me and have their own goals with their walking. We will do fun cardio together such as badmitton, volleyball

Single mom of 2 boys looking to be a healthy example and to feel better about myself.


Other Information:
I am a huge reader. Reading is the passion of my boys and myself (in fact we always say our decorating style is modern library). I like all kinds of different books and am always looking for recommendations of the next great read.

    Thanks for the rose! I DO need to remember to smell them during the stressful times, I just seem to forget! I need to make it the first thing I think of when I'm in a bad place. I guess thats why long weekends are so good, you have time to stop. Need more of them! Thanks :)

    Thanks so much for the massage! Knees are a tricky spot to massage, especially my munter! Didn't do any more jumping around on it yesterday. today I start a week's holiday with my sister and their kids, so no more jumping around in front of work out videos till next weekend. Just nice big walks on the beach, and maybe some swimming (if the water is warm enough!). Can feel some lazing on the beach with good books coming on as well. Here's hoping we have some real summer weather instead of the bollocks we've been having since Xmas! Fingers crossed!
