Defining Who I Am- for Myself

Hello I'm Kc, now 49 (and loving it!) and I am married to a wonderful man and we have a soccer playing fourteen - old and a tap dancing eight year old.

I am realizing the importance of taking time for myself every day, even if it is just 10 minutes in the bedroom with the door close. We all wear so many different hats and are different things to different people it is important not to lose ourselves to those definitions or others expectations. When I take time for myself I have more of myself to offer to others.

I am finally ready to lose weight - for myself. I have tried losing it for other people and other reasons and every time was doomed to fail before I started. This time I deserve it and will do it just for myself.

In 1990, I injured my spinal cord and tore everything holding my left hip in place in an on the job accident, they told me at that time I wouldn't be able to walk - guess what I walk, although with constant pain, and they told me that I would never be able to carry a child to term - did that as well - twice! I know I can do this as well!

I look forward to seeing what the world brings me each day in challenges and rewards.

My Goals:
My goal is to be active and fit and weigh around 150 pounds.



My Program:
To stay active, not sit down during the day. Watch what I eat and make sure I eat enough, from tracking my food, I have realized I don't eat enough each day, so my body has been in starvation mode for some time.

Personal Information:
Relocated to the Seattle area in 1996, lived first in the Bellevue area, slowly have been moving northward, now we have settled 35 miles north of downtown Seattle. When I first drove I-90 through the Cascades I felt I had finally come home, it was an awesome feeling that day and a lot has happened since then and a lot is still to come.

I too have had a strange year. About 2 years ago I move to a SHAG apt just off of Rainier Ave. It was a nice place but the manager was a control freak. I moved because my son and I were having difficulty. So, he ended up homeless due to bad decision making. He needed to learn not to take advantage of me, and he did learn. In Feb of this year I had my first biopsy it came out fine then April I had a mammogram that like you, it needed to be looked at. I ended up having another biopsy that came out fine. I had to go through them all by myself as no one could take off to be there for me. In Jun my son and I moved out by shoreline. We are very happy and he is much more responsible. I will be glad when this year ends. emoticon

Sounds like you and family had a wonderful vacation, I am jealous of the sandy beaches. Glad you had a great time and before school started to spend quality time with the family.
Sore leg muscles are a real PAIN literally. I would suggest taking a long soak in warm epsom salts bath as that is a very good thing for tight muscles and tendons. Walking in the sand is an awesome leg exercise as you found out first hand.
