My Best Friend, Me, and 4 of our 5 before we wed and became the brady bunch
I became a member of SP in July 2009, but never did a thing except check out the site. I officially got started as a daily active SP member as of this July and low and behold I am making progress in only week 2!! When I signed on last year I had about 25 lbs to lose that I had gained after staying at my ULTIMATE weight for over 15 years. I was about 125 and size 6 from about age 27 until age 42. Before that a chubby teen, joined WW at age 16 at 201 lbs. Fought the weight most my life until I got a handle on what it took! A new lifestyle, not a fad. So...over the past 2 or 3 years I just lost momentum. Don't know if it is my age, the fact that I went through a crisis and serious loss, got stuck in mourning, a little empty nest, or some of all of it, but I don't want to be here. I want to be the REAL ROXY I know is inside me again. After waiting another year to get started now I have 40 lbs to lose rather than 25. I want the best Mid-life I can have with my mate, to be a part of my children's lives, to spend time with my parents and family. I've been bogged down in the past and mourning and regret and poor, pitiful, me feelings too long and doing NOBODY any good! Especially me. That is not how I've ever lived my life and I can't crumble at every crossroad because life is full of them I am learning! Can You Relate? So Friends, I'll be here most every day if you want to partner up and cheer each other on. Sometimes a new friend is just what the Dr. ordered! I would welcome getting to know you! Movin' on, Roxane
The goals that seem to help me the most are the ones I can keep so I try not to overwhelm myself as I have been known to do in the past. This time I am starting slow. For at least 1 month I would like to accomplish 3 every day. Drinking 8 glasses of water, reading a motivational quote, and praying. I am also trying to keep my food journal at least 5 of the 7 days each week.
The most important thing I have done is to remove something that I have been doing that is a bad habit - for example, changing into my "comfie-cloths" the minute I walk in the door. Instead, I am putting on my tennis shoes and doing something different for at least 1 hour. Even if it is just laundry or chopping veggies or making my lunch for the next day. I am keeping it positive, focused on my improved lifestyle, and not giving in to the normal "FISH FLOP" in front of the TV.
My name is Roxane. I am from South Alabama on the Gulf Coast. I lost my first huband to ALS after 13 years, but was blessed enough to marry my best friend 6 years ago. Together we have 5 beautiful children 4 Girls and 1 Boy. We consider ourselves blessed to have found each other and to have something some people probably only dream of after both having had serious loss in our lives. Our children are ages 19 to 9. We also have the best English Bulldog ever born. He is 4 years old and his name is Russell. He is our ONE child together and completely spoiled.
I am big on motivational literature. Sort of a self-help junkie. Love all kinds of music. I believe we are all here with a specific purpose and we should strive to seek it out.
