My name is Renee. I joined this site at the urging of a close friend who has been on this site and getting support for a while. I have been struggling with my weight for years... yo yo-ing from diet plan to diet plan and never sticking with anything long enough to make enough of a difference. Two years ago my world fell apart... my best friend and husband of 20 years went into respiratory arrest, had a heart attack and a stroke and ended up in a coma. Thankfully he survived, but he now has continual heart and lung issues as well as brain damage from the stroke. He was only 42, didn't have any prior health problems, high blood pressure etc. and they still can't give a reason for what happened but our lives have forever been changed. The only thing I know is that he was and still is overweight... as am I...and that we have a better chance of living to watch our children marry, and play with our grandchildren if I figure out a way to get and stay healthy. I am super busy and overwhelmed with having to work extra in order to take care of my husband and kids... but I can't get overwhelmed and lost in how little time I have and how much I have to lose...I have to make time for me...so I am taking it one day at a time. Today will be a good day... I have been walking and hiking regularly and watching what I eat... hopefully I'm headed in the right direction... day by day!!

My Goals:
I need to lose weight...DUH... but more importantly I need to commit to a healthy change and stick with it. My goal is to have a new healthy body a year from now.

My Program:
I am walking/hiking 3 days per week and making more healthy choices in my diet. I am also trying to add in little daily challenges with stretching an other activity.

Personal Information:
I am originally from Washington state, but have been living and teaching elementary school in Las Vegas since 2004. I have been happily married to my best friend for 20 years and have two amazing children. The past few years have been full of loss and hardship... and my family continues to struggle... but I try to remain positive and know that I have to worry about myself sometimes too. I love my family and I know I was made for more than this. With faith and perseverance, I can change my life and in turn, the legacy I leave for my daughter.
