Strong is the new skinny!
I've been on this journey what seems like all my life. I had open heart surgery at 5 years of age for a congenital heart condition that was slowly killing me. Ever since that surgery, it seems as I've been overweight. I've been on diets, lost weight, gained weight, but have never been truly fit. I've been on this journey what seems like all my life. I had open heart surgery at 5 years of age for a congenital heart condition that was slowly killing me. Ever since that surgery, it seems as I've been overweight. I've been on diets, lost weight, gained weight, but have never been truly fit. I joined SP back in Jan 2010 and gave up about halfway through the year. I recently started again, but this time I know it's the real deal. I'm done with being unhealthy, tired, sluggish and all the other lethargic adjectives that go along with being a couch potato. Suddenly this year, it just finally clicked for me. It was like a beacon of light shone down on me and I could just feel that this time was different. I realized that I didn't care about the number of pounds to be lost or what size I wanted to be. What I want is to be healthy, fit, and strong. That's what I care about. I am finally nurturing the part of me that is the explorer, daredevil, and knowledge seeker and it feels FANTASTIC! So many of my friends have come to me since I've started on what I will call my 'real journey' now and expressed how proud they are of me and what an inspiration I've been to them. I never thought I would be that for anyone. But, it warms my heart for them to take action because they see how wonderful I've been feeling. My hope is they want this for the right reasons as well and are going to achieve their goals. I'll be right here supporting them anyway I can.

My Goals:
My goals are fairly simple. I want to be healthy, strong, fit.
My Program:
I follow the SP nutrition plan as close as I can, but even if I don't, I still track my food and fitness. I go to the gym everyday except Sunday. Monday through Friday I go twice a day (during lunch and after work). Zumba has been a Godsend for getting me back on the fitness track. What a fun way to get back in shape! Through Zumba, I've also found the confidence to try other fitness classes that I never would've tried before. I am LOVING this!!!!
Personal Information:
I am slowly becoming the outgoing person I've really always wanted to be. Gaining confidence through pushing myself to try things I never thought I could do. Last month was pushing myself to do not just my first 5K, but my first and second 5K in the same day. The second 5K was a running obstacle challenge and was a blast. I am now hooked on those.
Other Information:
I am also an avid dog lover. I work occasionally with an amazing and huge-hearted, no-kill rescue group.
