My Goals:
Run TWO half marathons in 2015.

Reach my second maintenance anniversary at goal weight.

My Program:
I run, lift weights,& do exercise videos. I do a lot of cardio to cope with migraines. I try to use the plate method - half non-starchy vegetables, 1/4 protein, and 1/4 starch. I limit sugar because it aggravates my fibromyalgia.

Personal Information:
Lost 100 pounds after being morbidly obese, chronically ill, and sedentary for 15 years. I did it through calorie counting, portion control, limiting sweets, and adding regular exercise.

I've kept it off for a year so far.

Thanks so much for your comments on my blog. I also struggled for a long time with thinking that I had to follow a super low calorie diet in order to maintain my weight. I spent quite a long time on maintenance eating less than 1,400 calories a day six days a week and bingeing wildly on the seventh. Although I was still maintaining, in spite of the huge spikes after my binges, it wasn't how I wanted to live the rest of my life. Because my body seemed to have gotten used to me consuming so little most of the time, it took some time for me to adjust my calorie levels, but now I can reliably eat more than 2,000 calories a day and still maintain. And because I'm generally satisfied with how much I'm eating, I don't have many of those 5,000-6,000 calorie days any more like I used to that would take me the rest of the week to compensate for.

There are other episodes in the podcast that I mentioned in my blog that might be of interest to you. Episodes 80: http://podbay.fm/show/502334416/e/13768956

focus on two women who were able to rebuild their metabolisms after years of restrictive dieting. A lot of their experiences mirror my own.
