Use It And Lose It!

Hi, my name is Clare. I'm 27, I work a boring office job, and lately, pounds are just creeping on. I'm pretty active, but I have a problem with portion sizes. I was a swimmer in high school and worked out like a maniac in college, and I haven't changed my eating habits to reflect my more sedentary life. My Goals:
- Enter a 5K (strangely, I've never run a 5K)
- Enter another 10K.
- Fit into my college clothes!
- Have more energy.
- Make it to the gym.
- See stomach muscles. GRRRR!!
- Wake up ealier (to go to the gym in the mornings).

My Program:
I was on Spark last summer, and it was great for me - I lost 13 lbs! Over the winter, some weight has crept back. The biggest news for me is that I'm getting married in October, so I'd really like to be in tip top shape for the wedding (and the honeymoon!).

I'm still dealing with an injured knee, but I now have a gym in the basement of my building, so I have no excuse not to get those cardio minutes in.

Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.

1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.

2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.

The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Spark friends are here for support, motivation and encouragement. Good luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle! Again, welcome to the SP family!

Hi! We have lots in common! I too am a 27-year-old Chicagoan with a boring desk job. I haven't run a 10K in a while, but kudos to you for finishing your first one, and congratuations on your upcoming wedding!
