I started trying to lose weight because I am sick to death of not being able to shop in the same stores as my friends. I want shopping to be fun, not depressing!
For a LONG time I have had the mindset of 'I wish I was skinny'...I am changing my way of thinking to 'I WILL be skinny'.
My goal is to wear a bikini at the beach next summer without being ashamed!

My Goals:
1. I want to get down to 130. I have my goal date set at my next birthday, June 14th, but before that would be fantastic!

2. I want to wear a bikini next summer without feeling ashamed.

3. I want to do well enough on my fitness test for my weightlifting class to register on the fitness scale.

My Program:
I am closely tracking everything I eat--I've found that knowing I have to log in my food later has made a BIG difference in being able to say no.
I am taking a weightlifting class this semester--and frequently showing up early to get a head start.
I started the Couch to 5k program and am on my first week.

Personal Information:
I live in Grand Ledge, MI, so if there are any SparkPeople around there hit me up! I live with my parents and three dogs, and am currently attending LCC and majoring in Psychology.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I so agree that it is much better to shop in regular department stores. And to not have the limited plus-sized selection in department stores.

Congrats on getting to week 3 of C25K. You are right, I need a friend to run with, but no takers right now. I started C25K when my church did a Bible Study called "Run for God." Four of us over 50 ran together. One was a real couch and never got past week one. We did it 6 weeks with her. Then we moved to week 2 for the rest of the program. Two dropped out after the first 3 weeks. My last partner never really made it off redoing week one and had no interest in running. I'd love to find another running partner. Maybe one will come my way soon. There are lots of young girls, but not many obese over 50 runners!

The giant portions--I know! In that book I read, the author said that restaurants noted that it took a person only three times to get used to larger portion sizes. The first time a diner is confronted with way too much food, they would take part home or just leave it. The second time, same thing. The third time, they would just eat the whole thing. The were used to that larger size being normal. Unbelievable how easily our brains are manipulated!
