Changes are happening - improvements all the time

I have been dieting on and off for years and slowly, slowly, slowly I seem to be getting there now. The major change I have made recently is to really cut out sugary foods from my diet. I have been following the Scandinavian diet (High Fat Low Carb) and it seems to suit me.

For now I'm back on Spark People to track my fitness - but I will soon bring the food tracking back on line too.

My Goals:
I am setting a short term goal for my birthday: 1.25 lbs per week will bring me down to 182 lbs. I will still have more to lose - but I think this is doable. For me I think smaller targets and smaller victories work - and they soon add up to bigger victories.

My Program:
As well as radically changing my nutrition I have got more regular with exercise. These are the resources I'm using to build a new foundation for health:

♥ Body Control Pilates by Lynne Robinson (UK Pilates guru) this is re-educating my body and bringing me slowly back in to correct physical alignment I love her approach
♥ Barbara Benagh Yoga DVDs she is another pure genius and her instructions make yoga so clear and safe to practice love her
♥ Core Secrets by Gunnar Petersen an infomercial purchase I will never regret
♥ C25K on my cross-trainer instead of on-the-road so I can build up my cardio-capacity without injuring my body (or 'doing myself a mischief' as we say over here in the UK)

My name is Maria and I'm from London, UK. I'm of Scots/Irish-descent and I was born in England so I'm a bit of an in-betweenie culturally which is great, I think.

Other Information:
Currently following the Scandinavian Diet : High Fat Low Carb. It's working for me. I'm currently slipping a little on the 'sugar front' so I have come back on to Spark People to remotivate myself.

Over the years, the cameras have never been nice to me. In looking at all of my SparkFriends' photos I have been thinking seriously about doing some pictures. I am going to get it done soon. I think it is nice to put a face to a friend.
