I'm 24 years old, married to a wonderful, supportive husband and have two beautiful children, Leah, who is 4, and Logan, who is 8 1/2 months. We live in the northwest burbs of Chicago. My family is my main motivation in wanting to lose weight and be healthy! I want to be around for a loooong time!
I think my weight issues started around high school. My family was an on-the-go sort of family, so that meant a lot of fast food, skipping meals, unhealthy snacking, etc. I think you just kind of get used to those habits and carry them around with you. I was never that uncomfortable with my weight until around the time I had my first baby.
Before I got pregnant with my daughter, I weighed about 175 lbs (what I would give to be back at that weight). I only gained about 15 lbs throughout my pregnancy with her, but after she came, I progressively started gaining slowly but surely (I called it Stay at Home Mom Syndrome). By the time she was 2, I got fed up with it. At that point I was weighing in at about 250 and wondered to myself how I ever got that way. I didn't start any diet plan, just tried to be more mindful of my choices. I had made it down to 223 lbs and then SURPRISE.. we were pregnant again.
While pregnant with my son, I gained a lot of weight pretty rapidly. At my last appointment (which happened to be the same night I went into labor), I was weighing in at 267 pounds. I was disgusted with myself and couldn't wait to get back in gear. I lost 10 lbs immediately after birth, but the remaining 34 pounds were still hanging out.
It took me almost 8 months to finally gain the motivation to change myself. I was depressed, self concious and felt like crap all the time. So one day something inside me just snapped, I mustered up the willpower to make a positive change in my life and here I am! My weight struggle in a nut shell!
I can't wait to feel good about myself again, be a positive role model to my kids and look HOT in a bathing suit!
5/2/07 -- Reached my first short term goal. Down 16 pounds. Next short term goal is 30 pounds! Gotta keep moving along!
Main Goal: 50 lbs
Medium Goal: 30 lbs
Starter Goal: 15 lbs (ACCOMPLISHED 5/2/07!!!!)
I'm hoping to reach my medium goal by July 1st.
15 lbs - Manicure/Pedicure
30 lbs - New clothes!
40 lbs - Spa Day!
50 lbs - Vacation!!!
I don't have much of a program. I'm trying to stay under 1500 calories a day which I've found to be relatively easy after my body adjusted to not being fed McDonalds and Wendys all the time. I excercise daily, alternating days between Curves and the gym (I'm a big fan of the elliptical machine). I do strength excercises every night, which range from crunches to leg lifts to dumbbells. I'm just trying to make better food choices and get more active. It's amazing how those two things make such a huge impact!!
Just dropping in to congratulate you on your ongoing weight loss. It is truly inspirational to see other members of the sight actually losing weight.

Hey! I stumbled across your page. Just had to leave a comment about your pic caption up top. I too am trying to dump off a little boob weight! I was in a DDD, and now, after losing 12 pounds, I'm down to a small DD! Woo Hoo! Good luck! (All of the other women on here probably think we're crazy, trying to shrink our boobs! lol)
