Starting Over...

wow, how many times will I rewrite this intro...because yes, i need to start over....AGAIN!

no excuses, no explanations. Just a statement that i need to do better for me and my family.

updated 11/5/11: Something has stuck this time around, i'm almost a month in and have really stuck with my goals of eating healthier and exercising regularly.

7/26/12 woooops again, i've backslid a little, but not horribly. i got down to the low 170's but i'm back up to about 176. I'm ready to dive in and get back on track.

My Goals:
My ultimate goal is to get down to 130lbs.

mini-goals:
1) Lose 5 lbs - met
2)Lose 10 lbs - met 11/4
3)Exercise at least 3 times a week. (Goal considered met when I've done this for at least 2 months)
4) cut my soda intake by at least half. - met, i've been completely soda free for almost one month as of 11/5/11

My Program:
I'm following Sparkpeople's suggested calorie range as well as drinking at least 8 cups of water a day. I'm working hard to increase my fiber and fruits and veggies.

I'm committed to doing some sort of cardio at least 3 times a week.

My husband and I have registered for a mini-marathon in May. What a great way to motivate me. i'm not committed to running the whole thing. But i'm terrified of not even being able to finish it within the pace (18 min mile) required. That's really pushing me to get on the treadmill or out in the neighbor hood walking or running several times a week.

Personal Information:
I'm a wife, mother, and stepmother. I have an awesome family.

Other Information:
I was never heavy growing up. I was always trim and fit. I put on a few pounds in college (up to a size 12/14). Since marriage, pregnancy and parenthood I've really packed on the pounds. I just really want to be comfortable in my own skin once again.

Congrats on doing so well with the new competion. I thought about asking if I could post my bi-weekly weigh-in and kind of "play along," but then figured it might be kind of confusing for those participating for real. Guess it doesn't matter since you guys aren't weighing that often. I can see how that is both good, and bad! I'm trying to get back on it. I've been too darned busy around here lately and haven't had time or the energy to workout. When I don't workout, I don't watch my diet. For me, they simply must go hand-in-hand (dumb, I know). I might try to workout for a few minutes tonight and get back on it so that I have a good start for December. As for the running, I WISH there was a park! I live 20-25mi from both nearby towns. Its about a mile to the highway down my road, but I just know someone in a big Dodge Ram would come barreling down the road and run me over. I guess I can wait the 7 months till our new house is completed so I can run in my subdivision. I'd try to join a gym but being so far away, I can't really afford the gas. I can wait, I suppose, since I'll basically have to start with C25k again to build back up. I'd be lucky to be able to jog 1/2 mi at this point. lol Keep it up for sure, because you lose endurance sooo fast (even in a matter of weeks). Take care and keep working hard!

Hi there. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and commenting on my progress pic's. It took me awhile to get comfortable enough to do it, but I am so glad I finally did!

Did I read some where that you live in KY? I live in Michigan now, but lived in Kentucky all of my life until 2002 when I moved here. I lived about an hour from Owensboro. (Grayson Co.) I loved it there, and always dream of moving back. Now if I can just convince General Motors to agree to keep paying the hubby when we move. lol
