So, below you can see that 4 years ago I used Spark to help me lose 33lbs. I kept it off for a couple of years and then it S L O W L Y crept back up. Not all the way, mind you, but too close for me! So, starting in January, I started reigning my lazy eating ways back in. I am happy to report that half of the weight is already gone. I learned that I could not be a slave to tracking, which is what happened years ago. It's just kind of an OCD way to live and I didn't want to be that way. So, I purposely eat what I want but it's all low density calories and high density nutrition. I let my self pig out occasionally, but then the following day I will go very austere with the calories. I guess it's kind of calorie cycling. I also walk my Siberian Huskies all over the place. I realized that I couldn't incorporate an exercise routine that I would never stick with, like a gym. And so far, it is working for me.
Below the line is my 'why to lose weight' story. But I am here to say that with the help of SparkPeople I did it. I lost the weight I wanted to lose and got into the shape and size I wanted to all with the help of all the cool tools available FOR FREE here on this wonderful site. If I can do this, anyone can. Go for it!
I am a 42 year old wife and mom who, up until 7 years ago, was quite slim and healthy, even after having 3 kids! I modeled in my early 20's and was too thin at 120. After getting married I settled at a healthy 135 (I'm 5'7"). That is where I stayed for years.
Then, after a series of stressful life events (including the death of my beloved Mom) and moving into my 40's, I found I had become 161 pounds!!! I had thought about doing something to lose the weight and get in shape, but never really wanted it enough to succeed.
In March of 2008, after having to go on prednisone for a bout of eczema, I found I had gained 7 pounds in a month and nearly fell over when the scale said 168!!!
At that moment, everything just clicked for me, it was right before my 42nd birthday, and I knew I REALLY WANTED TO BE HEALTHY & SLIMMER. That was April 2008. It is true that when you really want something you will do what you need to do to get it. And that is exactly what I am doing.
Drop the 13 lbs I regained. Get back to 140 and a loose size 8. Also, want to try and implement some kind of fitness plan that won't exacerbate the chronic nerve pain in my leg.
Former Goals met:
To lose 30-ish pounds. I am shooting for a weight box of 135 to 138. I will NOT exceed 138! Which means I will wear a size 8 again. I want to look, on the outside, as young as I feel on the inside.
Goal hit 8/30/08:
Bought my first pair of size 8 jeans! I think when I lose my last 6lbs I may actually be in a size 6.
Goal hit 9/14/08
136 pounds. I am in my "weight box" and have actually gotten down to a size 6 jeans. Woo Hoo!
Starting myself off with a Medicare kickstart, kinda to reset my metabolism. Then I will transition back to 85/15 clean eating. Because without the 15% of purely fun delicious food, life is just not work living.

I am very happily married and have 3 kids: ds(21), ds(14), and dd(11). We also have 2 fabulous and beautiful Siberian Huskies. We live in the northern Atlanta 'burbs.
My favorite band is MUSE, next up anything Jack White does (ie: White Stripes, Raconteurs, Dead Weather). Radiohead.
I LOVE reading. Mostly supernatural and fantasy fiction. Books I ADORE:
George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire Series, The Harry Potter series, Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller series, Sookie Stackhouse novels, Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next novels, (I loved the Twilight series too). This is just a taste...I love a great book!
