How to tell you're not Mom's favorite...
When life falls apart at the seams, we can gather the scraps & make it more beautiful than before.
Food is not my only addiction...
I am a wife, cat-mom, caregiver, volunteer and quilter. My weight and eating history? You could say I was born a fat and had a set back. There isn't enough money in the world to get me to go through childhood again, unless I could go back with the knowledge, tools and self acceptance I have today. I battled with food and fat all of my life until I realized that I couldn't fight it anymore. I had to become willing to accept what I needed to do in order to be healthy, to pick up and use the tools needed to reach that goal, and to change the mindset I had that food was both my enemy and lover.
Today I start each day with gratitude, thanking God for the bright shiny gift of life. I believe that it's Gods will for me to have a healthy, balanced life filled with joy, enthusiasm and service. If I choose then to abuse myself - my body, mind and spirit, with excess food or by practicing unhealthy and chaotic behaviors, then it seems to me that I am throwing that gift back in Gods face. Am I perfect at accepting and taking care of this valuable gift everyday? No, I'm afraid I am still a bit careless in how I treat it sometimes. But every morning, so far, I've been granted another try. Thankfully, God has abundant patience!
Attain a healthy balance in my life, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Slow down enough to enjoy the lessons, the scenery and the people in my life.
Follow a healthy food plan, go to water aerobics 3 to 5 days per week, walk, attend a support group meeting, drink water, take time for friends, to journal, pray & meditate, take time to play, to rest and to do service for others. Attend 5 retreats per year to focus on recovery.
I was born and raised in Northern California, but my spirit has always been Oregonian. I have been blessed to live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest since 1990.

When I got married and moved here over 40 yrs ago, there were 5 or 6 fabric stores around--privately owned and in other stores. Now they have all closed their doors. The last one closed about 2 yrs ago but she never did have much in her shop--very limited. Thank goodness I do have a lot of stash from mama and my mil when they died. Sorry, our home is ours and I don't want to start over somewhere else. lol ((HUGS)) Linda Kay
