Hiking, walking, gardening...

I think this is about the fifth time I've sincerely started tracking and working here at Spark People. It seems to take a string of events to get me here and that string of events is different every time. I'm turning 40 this year and that was part of the tumult that got me here most recently. I really want to give myself the gift of health for my birthday. I have lots of plans for hiking and backpacking and need good health to meet those goals over the next 20+ years.

I finally feel like I'm where I need to be emotionally to lose the weight. I have a lot of helpful strategies in place to deal with sadness, anger, frustration and the like. In the past, it has been emotional turmoil that has drawn me back to uncontrollable eating.

The food is the most difficult part of the whole picture right now. It's such a habit to eat whatever I want that I struggle at some point every single day. I hope it gets easier!

Brayden and Hannah have been done with their classes for a month and I'm wondering when the summer relaxing is going to start. I dream of a time when there are no outside influences on our time. Even stuff we want to do is getting in the way of summer life it seems. How fun to go on a river trip. You're so adventurous and brave. I guess it is with the big kids though. My sister is coming into town next week from Cal. so we'll be camping and visiting. I had a great walk with my other sister this morning around the hills of Cedar City. Lovely cool mountain air, watching the sun rise. Now to keep that up all summer. Our garden is doing great - that is one thing I do love the obligation of - the garden.

Comicon is the place where all people geek about anything Comic gather in a huge convention. They have a lot of celebrities that go and boast their version of the comics in movies. My brother in law is a graphic artist and is currently writing/sketching/inking his first real comic book. Comicon is so popular that tickets to their convention were sold in about 5 minutes. My brother in law was fortunate to get some this year, but last year he pushed to login probably a nanosecond too late. :) Oh the things I know that I don't really care to know.

My sister just recently started using money as her motivation. Albeit she only has 20 pounds to lose before she's a stick, but she is seeking a toned stomach and muscles everywhere so that she doesn't feel so weak. But she has stuck to her plan using money as her reward. She earns $40 a week. She always has a goal in mind, like new underwear, undershirts, yard sale money. She's saving up for a Silouette cutter. It has been a great motivator for her. Her husband (who is a stick also) is doing it with her - though his goals aren't as money oriented, his are time with his wife alone. He has kept his goals and so they are going on a romantic weekend getaway this week. They are ultimately preparing their bodies for the demands on ComiCon. I guess I need to consider a reward system. I usually don't have the luxury of extra money to spend on myself. But I should come up with something! It seems to work. I love your plan! I like how it's tiered, that should come in handy during birthdays when cake is inevitable. That's what I have this weekend, it's Landon's 3rd birthday.

Glad you got to camp! Joseph and I are the undoing of each others fitness and eating too. We rationalize together!

Well, let me hear your plan! I would love for us to keep tabs on each other. I am going to start exercising with Rob, but it is nice to have someone else to help with accountability. We easily convince each other to cheat on our goals. So what are you doing right now? and what is your grand idea! I love it when ideas come like that. We should have a check in with each other x amount of times a week or something. After this weekend (the winds finally died down and we went down to the St.George area to camp) I have forgotton to log in and keep to my goals. How does that happen so quick?
