I call myself a health and wellness advodate. My focus is prevention and improving quality of life. I have a good working knowledge of nutritive supplementation, a basic understanding of physiological/biochemical pathways, and the evoking of regenerative processes. For a lay person I consider myself advanced. I have a keen interest in natural health that has led me to self educate though extensive reading and research of the topic. I have been schooled through podcast interviews of prominent authorities on health, wellness and fitness as well as Amazon.com and the public library.

I am a member of the Weston A. Price Foundation. The president of this foundation is Sally Fallon Morell, MA the author of NOURISHING TRADITIONS and Eat Fat Lose Fat these well-researched books are thought-provoking guides to traditional foods which contain a startling message: Animal fats and cholesterol are not villains but vital factors in the diet, necessary for normal growth, proper function of the brain and nervous system, protection from disease and optimum energy levels.

My personal nutrition program is a ketogenic/fat burning diet consisting of approx. 60% fat, 30% protein and 10% nutrient dense carbs - I do not count calories or practice portion control. As far as calories go I consume quite a few without experiencing weight gain, but I do restrict my carb intake to only those that are nutrient dense. NO SUGAR, NO STARCH for me. I never go hungry and my cravings are virtually nonexistent. My fitness program includes yoga, strength/resistance training and cardio interval workouts. This has been working for me the past 2 1/2 years, I lost 40+ pounds and now maintain a healthy weight, I'm happy, fit and well.

    emoticon That's us after niacin - lol. What a story you shared. It's a weird ride: the first time I did it I could FEEL it start at my head down to my toes which took about an hour. Doc said I could take a baby aspirin 30 mins prior to the niacin to prevent flush, but I don't want to take aspirin cause it's not good for the stomach lining. It's more tolerable the longer you take it - or so I hear. lol I'll have to let you know. Thanks for stopping by my page and sharing your scary episode. I'm so glad you didn't incur ER costs!
