I got to a point in my life where my weight and eating habits had to change. I had far too much stress and I was not handling my frequent bouts of depression as well as I use to. I got to a point in my life where my weight and eating habits had to change. I had far too much stress and I was not handling my frequent bouts of depression as well as I use to. My weight had balloooned to 205 pounds and I was suffering from high blood pressure. My diet consisted of high calorie food and there was little or no daily exercise. I was a mess and knew I had to change or face the consequences.
One day my wife and I decided to make some dramatic changes in our life. Our first change was the removal of the stress. We were restaurant owners and we left that life behind by moving to another quieter country. Next change we made was our diet but we needed help. That was when I found the spark people site and it allowed us to make overnight diet changes. We discovered how to substitute our poor nutrition foods with foods that were high in the nutrients we needed.
The next thing that happened was that we set exercise goals and started a daily cardio and strength program. We are now up to between 90 and 100 minutes of daily exercise. I weight myself once a week and have lost over 25 pounds. My goal is to lose 50 pounds by the first week of May.
I have to say that the Spark People site is the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. It provides all necessary information to make the changes that are needed to improve your life.

I'm glad to see that you guys are back into losing weight again. Good job on losing 5lbs recently. I'm down a few lbs from last week. It's amazing how much of a difference just eating properly makes. I'm focusing on nutrition this time instead of just going crazy with the fitness. I know I have issues with snacking and I need to get them under control so this time I am going to monitor my eating more closely and create more healthy eating habits.
It's great that we are both doing it at the same time this time around. We can encourage each other and keep each other on track.

The work I did on the car was the same job that I was going to get you to help me with when you guys were out visiting. It took me 9 hours to finish. There were a couple of trips to the auto parts store in that time. It was a huge job and I'm sure it would have cost over $1K to have it done at a shop. I spent less than $250 for parts and tools. We'll see how it does over the next day or so. I'll be unhappy if it starts leaking again...
We had our first big snow last night and today. The roads are slippery and icy now. Sucks. Winter is officially here in Calgary. How is it over on the island?
