Well I was doing good and then decided that I could do it without following the plan like I had been doing and guess what happened. The scale moved; not to the left but to the right, I gained WEIGHT!
**Fast forward to 2008, no weight loss and I have gained back the 12 lbs. that I lost and was starting to gain more. My size 18w pants were getting TIGHTER and my 18/20w shirts were gapping open between the buttons.
.....GAINING......., lose 2 lbs., lose 1 lb., gain 4 lbs. What is going on, I could not stop eating.........................
The more I exercised nothing changed I could not lose weight.
**06/2008 Doctor Appt (A warning: lose weight and watch your glucose) Weight: 218 lbs.
**08/2008, steadily exercising but then I became so tired, severly TIRED, TIRED to the bone, a feeling I just could not describe. I made a committment on 08/08/08, "A New Beginning" that I would change my ways to live healthy but after about two weeks I had no drive all of a sudden to exercise and I just could not understand it.
** 09/29/08: Doctor's Appt
I went to the hospital about one week prior to my office visit and had by blood panel work up. When I went to my doctor on 9/29/08 he told me that I had Type 2 Diabetes.
What do you mean? How can that be? What did I do?
I CRIED!!!! My numbers on everything were terrible!
My HDL, LDL, Triglycerides, Iron, & everything else was crazy. How all of a sudden did everything go crazy?
I do not accept this diagnosis and I am NOT claiming this, no way- no how. After comforting me, he is truly a loving & caring doctor, I walked out of his office with more prescriptions than CVS pharmacy.
Metformin 500 mg twice daily for type 2 diabetes, Pravastatin 40 mg daily for cholesterol, and purchase a glucose monitoring kit/strips, lancets, and alcohol wipes.
What in the world is happening to me? After I cried half the day, I prayed and God heard my cry because I have not looked back. I looked at the word Diabetes and I broke it down: Dia*be*tes; I can either die with this or BEAT this, it's up to me. Weight 218 lbs.
**10/24/08 Doctor's Appt
Thank you Jesus! I am on a roll and I am not stopping until God tells me to stop. Everysince my doctor gave me a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes, I have decided that I can turn this situation around and that is what I am doing. When he came into the room he gave me my hug as he always does and he asked me what had I been doing. Blood Pressure: 120/88 wow, this was awesome because normally it is higher than that. Weight: 212 lbs (-6 lbs). Well my doctor wrote me orders to meet with the Diabetic Education Nurse at the hospital and we met and talked about some important things but I have never met with a Dietician yet just buying books and reading everything that I can get my hands on.
**Well today(11/13/08) I weighed myself and the scales read: 201.6, CAN THIS BE RIGHT? Can I be losing the weight finally? Exercising daily: going to the gym, riding my bike, walking, or doing whatever I can to get my heart rate up. I have the TMT (ten minute trainer) and I have to get back to that because you really SWEAT in 10 minutes of doing these exercises. THANK YOU LORD!
I figured it out, the reason why I was not losing any weight was because of the diabetes, my body was not producing enough insulin or the cells was ignoring the insulin. Insulin is necessary for the body to be able to use glucose for energy. ***UPDATE*** 01/30/2009 Doctor's Visit
Weight today: 204 (-8) from 10/24/08 office visit
Although I was 201 lbs. i'm at 204, it's ok because my fitness level today is 100 times better than it ever has been. My doctor was so pleased with my weight, A1C glucose numbers, my blood pressure which was great... in that he has changed my bp meds and put me on a generic pill that is not as strong as before. He told me to keep doing what i'm doing because the goals that he set for me are being met in ways that has really surprised him.
Next appt: May 2009, just in time for my 43rd Birthday.
