This is me... Id like to get healthier and live happier...

I'm trying Sparkpeople for the n-th again. I have really struggled with focus, motivation, and determination in this realm. So this time I am really going to try to stay motivated and strong. I have even made sparkpeople my homepage.

I am one of those people that struggles with weight gain on a regular basis. As an active teenager I didn't worry about what I ate. I love food and I don't really like boring ...

I'm trying Sparkpeople for the n-th again. I have really struggled with focus, motivation, and determination in this realm. So this time I am really going to try to stay motivated and strong. I have even made sparkpeople my homepage.

I am one of those people that struggles with weight gain on a regular basis. As an active teenager I didn't worry about what I ate. I love food and I don't really like boring exercises like jogging.

As a busy young adult ..I have been gaining.. then losing.. then gaining weight for approximately 7 years. During that time span I have ranged anywhere from 135-195. I am now my heaviest (almost 209 lbs!) .. less than two years ago I was 155lb. I gain weight very quickly and easily when I am not living a healthy lifestyle and I have a very hard time losing it.

I AM NOW 26 and have been out of college for about a year. I have a bachelors degree in political science with emphasis on environmental politics and sustainability. I used to use school and work as an excuse.. but I can't anymore. I am working part time looking for my career starting job and I have the time to work on myself.

I would really like to be on my way back down to a healthy and safe weight... two years ago I couldn't have imagined being 165lbs and here I am 200 +lbs!!!

I am on the borderline of adult onset diabetes, having back pain, and headaches all the time. Most of my problems I attribute to being overweight.. obese... and inactive.

I also find activities I loved to do troublesome at my higher weight.

I used to be an avid equestrian. I used to take pride in my looks and appearance, I used to be an outgoing person. Now, I just want to sit home and eat BON BON's ahahha.. Actually I have never tried a Bon Bon.. but you get the idea.

I love chocolate annnnd
I am always hungry.


But... I know I can make changes that include snacking and even chocolate acceptable.

This time around I am trying to educate my self as much as possible. I am also trying to find and give support to others. I am also looking to make less drastic changes so that I can stick with the program for longer than a month at a time!

My Goals:
Overall Goal 135lbs
Weekly Goal healthy weight lose (hopefully about 2lbs a week)

To create yummy foods with less calories.

Currently I am in the beginning stages of my lifestyle change.

I have committed to eating healthy are consuming less calories.

I have committed to getting to the gym for cardio at least three times a week.

emoticon What a fantastic accomplishment! emoticon 13,408 people joined when you did three years ago, and I doubt few are still here. HAPPY THIRD SPARKVERSARY! emoticon

I'm reading the BECK DIET SOLUTION, which isn't a "diet" but she teaches how to THINK like a THIN person. (Got a copy from the library.) I recommend it to everyone. (We have a support team here at Sparks.)

Walking for five minutes is better than walking for zero minutes. Exercise is essential even if I don't do very much at first. I can build up the amount that I do over time, but I have to start somewhere.

Hunger is never an emergency. It is only mildly uncomfortable. I can tolerate it. It will come and go.

I really do deserve credit for breaking old habits and it is essential for building my confidence. Once my confidence grows everything will become so much easier.

If I want to lose weight permanently, I can't make exceptions. I'd rather be thinner. I can't overeat on week-ends or any other time.

I have to develop the habit of eating every bite slowly, while sitting down, so I can fully enjoy it. It is worth developing this habit, so that I can have a lifetime of being thinner.

I'm not going to let any minor setback ruin everything I've accomplished. One mistake doesn't ruin my diet, but falling back into old habits will.
I will recommit to my diet right here, right now!

Exercise is not negotiable for good health. It needs to be a daily lifetime habit and I need to make it so. The hardest part is getting started. I'll feel so much better when I'm done. So get started!

OH WELL! I'm going to ignore this craving. I'm going to do something and let it subside. I'm turning my attention to something else, like exercise.

I had a super weekend... until my car broke down. I got my walk in, though, walking from my car to my house, which was a little more than 2 miles.

What kind of bike do you own? I've been looking on craigslist.com for a cruiser :)
