    AEROBIC EXERCISE RIDS BELLY FAT
    The fat that is deep within your abdomen and fills the spaces between your internal organs is called visceral or liver fat. This belly fat poses a crucial threat to your health and needs to be taken seriously. Aerobic exercise such as brisk walking, jogging and swimming, burns calories. Resistance exercise such as weight lifting builds bone and strengthens muscles. Both of these modes of exercise are important and both should be a part of your exercise program. Duke University Medical Center researchers performed a study and found that if you are trying to reduce visceral fat, aerobic exercise is your best choice. Aerobic exercise burned 67 percent more calories than resistance training, the researchers found. So concentrate on aerobic exercise to burn away that dangerous visceral fat.

    Even though the numbers are a little better, our country is still in crisis when it comes to childhood obesity. The numbers of overweight and obese children are staggering. It’s time to get serious about conquering childhood obesity and really, obesity in general. There are so many reasons why weight has a significant impact on the medical, emotional and social health of people of any age. But many people do not know that if you are obese with a Body Mass index over 40, you have a 50% greater risk of death from cancer than those of normal weight. Obesity is associated with 20% of cancer deaths in women and 14% of cancer deaths in men. Let’s get serious about exercise and healthy eating and obliterate obesity.

    ALMONDS AND PEANUTS
    Nuts are an overall good choice for snacking. Almonds are my favorite nut and I try to include them in my daily eating. Almonds have more calcium than any other nut, they are low in carbs, but high in fiber and protein. Studies show that eating almonds (and other nuts) will give you a feeling of fullness longer and help you eat fewer calories throughout the day. 12 almonds are under 100 calories and very satisfying. Peanuts are another good choice. Health magazine says that like most other nuts, peanuts are also full of brain-boosting healthy fats and vitamin E, as well. One ounce of peanuts (about 28 unshelled nuts) contains about 170 calories, 7 grams protein, and 14 grams fat. Eating nuts helps your brain power and reduces inflammation.
