I have been away from Sparkpeople for a while now. I had lost over 30 pounds, was training hard, and things were going well. In February 2010, i had won my first MMA ffight (after losing my first two). Then things kind of fell apart.

I have long had issues with chronic back pain and hypo-hypothyroidism. I was then diagnosed with sleep apnea and hypertension. About the same time, I suffered a shoulder injury. I had bad reactions to blood pressure medications. I suffered exhaustion, listlessness, susceptibility to illness, and worse, radical weight gain.

While I continued training Jiu Jitsu, to the extent that I was able, I lost most of my cardio, and gained back not only all the weight that I had lost, but even more.

Perhaps because I didn't want to dwell on these issues, I stopped logging in to SparkPeople. In recent weeks, I have begun training hard again. I earned my blue belt in Jiu Jitsu. And now I am back on SparkPeople. I realize that I am starting over on my wight and fitness goals, but it is time to get back to work on it in a systematic way. I look forward to sharing the journey with all of you who are on a similar path....

My goal at this point is to get my weight down to 205 pounds. I suspect that after that I will try for 185, but we will see when I get there.

Jiu Jitsu 4 X week
MMA training 2 X week
Wrestling class 1 X week
Weight Training 2 X week
