My name is Wendy (or "ma-MA!" if you ask my daughter.) I'm 42, wife and mother of an extremely energetic and scary-smart 6-year-old girl. I used to be in exceptional health (a weight lifter working toward power lifting competitions -- I used to leg press over 500lbs!) After some major life changes, I became overweight and unhealthy. I'm working to get back some of my stamina and strength so I can keep up with, be around for and be a role model (not "roll model") to my beautiful daughter.

My Goals:
When I reach 160, my reward will be a new tattoo for my daughter. **DONE! Saving up for that now!!** - As of 7/15/2010, I haven't creeped back over up to 160, but I still haven't gotten that tattoo. I guess if you set a reward, you should at least treat yourself once you've earned it, huh? D'OH!
When I reach 150, my reward will be a new tattoo for myself.
**Better start saving for that, too!**
Drop my cholesterol at least 33 points. **Dropped 29 points!!**
Lower my blood pressure enough to quit taking prescription medication. **Done, after a few trips to a cardiologist!** - Back on BP meds for a different reason and from a different doctor. Oh well...
Get back the energy to keep up with my toddler - now a preschooler! **Preschoolers have TOO much energy!!**
Lose a few jeans sizes. 9/10 would be nice! **DONE! Hello sz 10!**
GET HEALTHY AND FEEL BETTER!


My Program:
Mostly healthy diet plan and more walking and playing at the park with my family. (After all, any exercise is better than no exercise!)
Still hoping to get back into the gym for some weight training and cardio on a more regular basis.

Originally from New Jersey, my family and I moved to Alabama when I was 5. I am a product of a mixed marriage... Daddy is a rebel and Momma is a yankee! Attended Hunter College in NYC for a year, but graduated from UAB in 1993. Met my hubby in '94 and got married in Sept. 2001. Talk about timing! Before my daughter was born in '05, I worked at several of the TV stations around town as a director.

    I was thinking about 18/20 but I'll take any size at this point:D I am still in the pattern making stage, so I can easily adjust the pattern and will be crazy sewing all weekend. I am designing a dress for our sustainable runway show "Tee Time" on April 19th. I only need one model that can be available for rehearsals April 17th & 18th @ 7:30pm and April 19th @ 5pm on UA campus in front of Doster Hall in Tuscaloosa. Are you interested or do you know anyone???? emoticon emoticon

    emoticon Got lots of stuff to do today, and the day is going by quickly! Gonna be doing the OPPOSITE of what you wanna do, actually "putting things together" as opposed to knocking them down. However, there will be a hammer involved... so it could be just as refreshing ;) heheh

    Well, I'm back here, aren't I? LoL

    Things actually aren't THAT bad (unless you look at my scale!). I was able to stop smoking tobacco, thanks to e-cigarettes... yeah, still a nic-addict, but as I've always said, one thing at a time!

    My last bloodwork was not all that bad, and when I mentioned to the doc that my new hobby (e-cig) had me so entranced, I'd not taken my meds for over a month or two - he said to stop taking them and we're going to look at my bloodwork again in 4 months. I figured this is the perfect time to jump back in to exercise and see if I can't get those results to look even better! Without the 4000+ chemicals from smoking, the wee bit of nicotine is really no different than caffeine at this point!

    So, I'm psyched, I'm moving, trying not to focus too much on eating (esp since HDL was actually better when I ate what I wanted, as opposed to restricting 'bad' things) and... we'll see where it goes!

    The pup in my profile pic is new since I was here last too - and that storm door she's pictured "knocking on" to come in, actually crumbled to her this past week! Oops! Fun times!
