I'm a recent college graduate, and throughout my junior year, I was super successful with SparkPeople. I dropped from 245 pounds down to 184.5, almost moved into a new BMI range, and felt great.

But the summer after my junior year, I went to Brazil, where I got off track and ate a whole lot of fabulous food. I gained about ten pounds back--nothing insurmountable, but still discouraging. By the end of the trip, I didn't even want to appear in family photos.

When I got home, I came down with mono. For weeks, I was too exhausted to move, so I would just sit and eat. Even after I was back on my feet and able to go back to work again, I couldn't exercise like I wanted to because of the swollen organ risks. It was months before I tried again to lose weight, but it was my senior year, and I was too busy and anxious to think about it anymore. By graduation, I was back up to my highest weight--around 250 pounds.

I got very sick again during the first few weeks after graduation in 2011 and lost an initial 10 pounds. Once I was better, I tried Weight Watchers, but all my old dreadful habits came back--overeating, secret eating, mindless eating, laziness, binging and then crash dieting. I stopped going to my meetings and gained back 7 pounds.

Around October 2011, I rejoined SparkPeople at about 235 pounds, thoroughly discouraged, but willing to try again. My parents joined me this time, and together, we all started losing weight. Since then, I've lost about 50 pounds (over 60 total), and I'm almost back down to my lowest ever weight. In just a few pounds, I'll move into a new BMI--and I promise, I am NOT going back.

I am recording my calories, fat, carbohydrates, and protein totals for every day, trying to keep between certain ranges for each. I also exercise for about an hour daily, sometimes more, mixing cardio, strength training, and bootcamp workouts.
