So, this is January 2012! A month to reflect on the year left behind.
I made much 'progress' in terms of weight loss in 2011 and almost reached my goal weight of 125 pounds (just 5 pounds short) and then I boomeranged upwards on the scale and gained it all back...and some.

Which led me to think: what had I learned?
I had learned to fall back on my old habit of yo-yo dieting. Diet for an event, diet for a dress: then go back to poor eating habits...diet again.

Creating a new habit is challenging, cultivating a new discipline even more so.
I intellectually understood concepts, the framework, yet: the core of me had not truly transformed.

To understand truth is to transform.

So, I start my slow journey toward making baby steps, making a small practice of positive changes and then walking in them.

This week, my husband teamed up with me (to mostly support me: he has really no weight to lose what so ever): making my work processes at home a simplified one.
We eat no plain carbs (bread, pasta, rice etc) or meat after lunch and no food (tea OK) after 7PM.

We have been energized by the team effort and making a ritual of a habit, that we hope will allow us to develop a newer healthier lifestyle.

I realize that weight loss is more difficult than it appears and a commitment from the heart is truly necessary to align life goals (good health, long life etc) to daily practice of the mundane, the same same and so on.

I read a wonderful passage from Dr Charles Stanley this morning:
He says: HALT when your perception may become clouded and never allow yourself to become too...

H: Hungry
A: Angry
L: Lonely
T: Tired

These are probably my triggers to binge or eat 'comforting' food.

I think I can remember this "HALT" as I go through the following days in prayer and an open heart.

My Goals:
My goal is to effectively understand and manage my health: essentially managing my weight, from which stem all the health concerns (cholesterol, mild hypertension).


My Program:
I have discovered the joy of running and am now learning to choose what I eat (and how much!)wisely . I am also learning to be patient with 'success'!



Personal Information:
I am my absolutely wonderful husband's wife and the mother of three delightful and close knit kids. I love maintaining a beautiful home, do needlework in my spare time and enjoy family get togethers.


Other Information:
We have two large dogs.The picture is of our ex-puppy, who is now a teenager! She is a St Bernard/Australian Shepherd mix. The other dog is a Shar-pei/Husky mix.
