Hi, welcome to this group. When I had the bypass in 2005 I too went through depression. It does pass as the pounds come off. I started at 235 and am now 158.50. I had the excess skin taken off my stomach in March and just had my legs done 5 weeks ago. I am very sore, but moving better. I want to do more exercise then I should and it is getting me down. Everyone says I must give myself time to heal. I'm just afraid I will gain back. They are right though and so far I am not gaining. Fact is, I did lose some...YEA. Anyway, you did a very good thing for yourself, trust me. I felt so depressed in the hospital watching those darn food commercials and thinking I could never eat those foods again. They had to call the doctor in because they were worried about me. In 1 week I was able to start to eat some foods and it got better every day. Now I eat anything. I do have trouble with some foods so I just have very small amounts. Stay with this support group and if you have a support group where you live go to it. I just attended a new group and just being there to help others made me feel better. We shared recipes and just talked about the changes to our bodies. It was held at a health food store and the owner is my chiropractor so he lead us to the better foods for us. We decided to have on going meetings from now on. I can't wait to go again. If you want to chat just let me know. Keep going, you will be fine in no time. Have a cup of warm tea to help calm you ... I do this all the time.
