My name is Jenny, Im 28 years old and have 3 beautiful children ages 6, 5, and 4 :)

I was diagnosed with a rare pregnancy related complication called peripartum cardiomyopathy. Basically my heart had gone into failure and my ejection fraction (the amount of blood your heart pumps out) ...

It all began about 6 years ago when I had my 1st daughter. What was supposed to be the happiest time of my life ended up with me in the emergency room being told I wouldnt make it through the night. I was diagnosed with a rare pregnancy related complication called peripartum cardiomyopathy. Basically my heart had gone into failure and my ejection fraction (the amount of blood your heart pumps out) was only 10%. I was showing symptoms for almost a month and kept being told it was phnemonia...they were so wrong and it almost cost me my life. It had got so bad before that er trip that my husband was having to carry me accross the hall to use the bathroom. I was so short of breath and i couldnt sleep because it felt like i was drowning.

Fast forward 3 months...I had an echo and it showed my heart was at a normal funtion 55% 2 weeks later I learned of some exciting, unexpected, and terrifying news...I was pregnant. I was already told that I should never get pregnant because there was a strong possibility that it would happen again but worse. They were expecting me to die. I couldnt do what they wanted me to...it was my baby! So I went on with the pregnancy I was blessed with. 8 months later I had a beautiful perfectly healthy baby girl! And I had no relapse :)

October 2009 I learned that once again I was pregnant. I knew right away that I was going to continue the pregnancy because everything happens for a reason. Some people may call me stupid for my choices but when you suffer through the pain of 2 miscarriages that you desprately wanted, you have a different understanding for life and know that every life is special and has a purpose. May of 2010 I gave birth to my son :) He was very healthy and super adorable! I however had a mild relapse of heart failure a week after the birth. Luckily since I am so parinoid about my heart , I sent myself to the er with very small signs of CHF just to be sure. Because of my quick response my ef didnt suffer and Im still at a 60% Ill be on meds for a little while to help my heart stay strong for the next few months (since im at risk for 6 months post partum) but doctors are confident I will remain at a healthy range. Since then Ive been given the approval for a normal lifestyle and exercise :) I plan to take that approval to take charge of my life...to get healthy because I want to be here for a VERY long time! And for those that were wondering yes...I had a tubal ligation to make sure that I dont risk my life again : )

I have gained close to 60 pounds over the last 5 years and Im ready to lose it! Im ready to be more active, make exercise a priority, and to make healthier food choices. I am starting my first round of P90X on 1/7/11...BRING IT!

Hi! I just saw your post on my page. We are at the same weight, so it looks like we do have the same amount to lose! I noticed you are doing the C25K and 30 Day Shred and Tae Bo. I am also following the Couch to 5K program. I am on Week 5. It's been flooding over here though, so I had to skip last week. I also like doing the 30 Day Shred and Tae Bo. My muscles feel like jello after the workout but it feels great when I am finished!

How are you doing?? Hope to stay in touch and get to know you. emoticon

Nice to meet you! I started out very slowly and just tracked my daily calorie intake. My goal was just to lose a pound a week, and I did through calorie tracking for about a month and then adding fat, carbs, and protein tracking the next month. For a little while at the beginning, I only tracked 4 days a week. I hit a bit of a plateau after two months, though, so I started doing 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week. 2 days of strength training, 3 days of cardio. There were a lot more steps after that, but I don't want to overwhelm you. It was a year's worth of just changing things little by little. But, please, feel free to ask me anything! I love talking about it. Good luck on your journey!

Hey sweetness! Thanks for stopping by! I had a rough month with my foot being messed up but lost nearly 8.5lbs anyway, so I would say that I had a pretty good month. How about you? Let's show July what we are made of!
