NO MORE EXCUSES!

I am starting on my third year as a Spark and my 56th year. The Spark book really re-focussed me and I came across another book about eating sugars, fats, and carbs that made me feel sick about some of the foods I eat. Losing weight and getting fit is hard work. I talked this over with my fiance last night and he is supportive and I set some short term goals and hopefully will meet them. I am starting on my third year as a Spark and my 56th year. The Spark book really re-focussed me and I came across another book about eating sugars, fats, and carbs that made me feel sick about some of the foods I eat. Losing weight and getting fit is hard work. I talked this over with my fiance last night and he is supportive and I set some short term goals and hopefully will meet them. I have been out of full time work, considered "disabled" since a series of accidents. I had a wonderful job, great money, benefits, etc., but had to quit. I couldn't walk or go very far alone, as the major disability is with my brain. Too much pressure, stress, noise and visual stimulation causes my head to "shut down". It was difficult the first three years explaining why I was not working - so I got a part time job, but the government takes away your benefits if you work over a period of time, and I stopped working. Boy, working 30 hrs. a week at a low stress job was too much for me. Now I am going to look for another part time job, and will have to quit after a number of months so I don't lose my benefits. Wish me luck. I have gained almost 50 lbs. over the time I quit my big job, and was unable to work out much because of my disabilities. I just got back from a 2 hr. walk. That I can do now, as I have worked up to it, and do it in segments. I am fortunate. Having Sparks has been so helpful, but I am someone who wants it to just "happen" overnight. Obviously it doesn't, but have met lots of new friends and my journal is my best friend. Bon chance to all of us on the road to fitness. Health you cannot buy.

Personal Information:
Originally from Maine, raised children and went to school in the Greater Boston area and now in Florida on the best coast, due to an early retirement after a life changing accident, thankfully I am doing well, don't take life for granted.

Other Information:
Love being outside and live where I can pretty much do that every single day. How cool is that? I would never have predicted where my life has taken me. Have my first grandchild, love reading, cooking, and my girlfriends are my rocks!
