IF IT IS TO BE, IT IS UP TO ME!
"Stand upright, speak thy thoughts, declare the truth thou hast, that all may share; be bold, proclaim it everywhere: they only live who dare. " - Voltaire
Rather than lamenting what you do not have, make the most of what you do have.
Rather than being stopped by what you cannot do, move forward by doing what you can do.
Instead of agonizing over the past or worrying about the future, make sure that right now you are the very best you can be.
Put your attention and your effort where they count. Use you energy and your time where they can make the biggest positive difference.
Being positive is more than just repeating happy phrases. Being positive means living positive.
Being positive means seeing the possibilities for improvement and advancement in every situation, and acting on them.
Being positive means doing what is necessary and right even if it is not easy or popular.
Positive values are more than just platitudes.
Sincere positive values result in effective positive actions. And those actions will bring real, lasting, and substantial achievement.

I know it is not realistic to many people, but I am going for the 143 that my scale read on my high school graduation day. I Aim High like the Air Force! Really, I feel like instead of saying 150-something that I will go for it and see what I can do!
EDIT: 3/20/08 --
SCREW 143... My clothes are falling off of me and the scale has barely budged any further. The old adage of muscle being 1/3 the volume of fat, and 3x the weight is true, true, true. Everyone keeps telling me, "OMG woman, you have lost so much MORE weight!!!" NO, I HAVEN'T! :) This is *NO* PLATEAU, THIS *IS* THE CHANGE!!! IT IS HAPPENING NOW!

As the saying goes, "Get busy living or get busy dying!" So let's live as much as we can!
CROSS TRAINING!: Walking (AND NOW JOGGING!) in my neighborhood and anywhere else I can, WINTER HIKING!!! (what a difference it's making! You've gotta really work it against the snow!), working out with our medicine balls, big exercise ball and free weights, using the elliptical cross-trainer at Mom and Dad's, playing with my new Leg Magic thingy, calorie tracking (but not getting crazy about it), keeping up with the water, and *POSITIVE VISUALIZATION!*
I am a 5'10" Northern Connecticut native, but lived in Manhattan for a little while during college, which is a requirement for most young Connecticut adults with wanderlust. As they say, "you have to go away to come back" and I definitely appreciated my little state never more than when I moved back from the scary West Village! We have had family in Connecticut since at least 1635, and are very proud to be Nutmeggers!
I am the largest female in my family, which is not a fun thing. I have the heaviest dose of the "Helga Gene" in our German - English - Danish - Swedish family. All the other ladies have the more English "I Simply Detest Food Gene" which must have evolved from England having some of the worst food in the world. It's true, I've been there.
I've been married to The Big Guy since 1997! He drives me nuts because he can lose weight by just thinking about it *really hard*... Yeah, he's one of those! He is very sporty and athletic, which keeps us active!
