Before (2007 size 20/22) and After (2011 size 8/10)
Pups helping me with my pose.
I've been on Spark nearly 4 years now. I'm now at the point of maintaining my weight. I've stayed in the same range for almost 2 years now. I don't track food anymore. I eat as much organic whole foods as possible (with some naughty processed foods in moderation as a treat - hey, we're human here!). I work out every morning at 530 am with a 20-30 min elliptical session. I am not a morning person but I found that getting up and getting it over with works so much better for me. Weekends are my days off - if I workout on a weekend its doing something fun like walking the dogs, hiking or shopping. :)
Hello! I'm Amber. I am from a small town in southern Minnesota. I have lived in Minneapolis for almost 9 years. I've decided to not start a "weight loss" journey, but a "healthier" living journey. My first goal is to change my diet for the better, smaller portions, and exercise at least 3 times a week. My next goal is to drop a few pants sizes (DONE- went from a size 20/22 to a size 14/16 in 5 months). I've decided I'm not going to get stuck on what the scale says-- I just think people get too hung up on numbers and when you start working out muscle weighs more than fat so often times the scale discourages you. I'm going to go mostly by pants sizes. Right now, sadly, its a size 18-22 depending on the pants. I have 1 pair of size 10's in the closet. :) I want to be in those within the year. So here we go....
*UPDATE* Approximately 6 weeks into Spark and I've lost 15 lbs and I'm ALMOST into my size 16 pants. :D Feb 28, 2010
20 lbs down - 3/22/10
25 lbs down - 4/18/10
30 lbs down - 5/2/10
40 lbs down - 6/20/10
50 lbs down - 8/21/10 - took me a long time to lose those 10 lbs!
60 lbs down - 11/28/10
70 lbs down - 1/1/11
80 lbs down - 7/15/11 - took a LONG time to lose 10 lbs. Now in maintenance mode.
Eat good food to fuel my body. Move my body every day. Love myself.
Elliptical for 20-30 min Mon-Fri.
Pilates 3 times a week.
100 sit ups; 20 push ups daily.

Hey, thanks for the advice. This one is a surgeon, I was recommended to just go straight to one. I've tried the injections (total of 3 or 4 since May 2012 like every three months) but they only last a couple of days if that. I've done oral steroids, naproxen, aspirin, everything in the book. Cold compresses, yoga, stretching. Nothing is helping and the pain is getting worse in increments. Now, when I try to exercise at the gym, I've got severe pain in my feet that has developed in the last 3 weeks so I'm not going much now. I'm barely able to tolerate standing at work. I don't have many chances to sit bc I have to move back and forth so much. So frustrating!

Amber, Thanks for commenting on my blog! How much coconut oil do you put in your smoothies? Does it change the tasted much? I also have a problem getting my calcium and protein in on some days. I've started to add a 1/2 serving of whey protein powder but that's not that much. Any suggestions on how to balance my smoothies more? Thanks!

Hey - no, another job wouldn't be an option for me. I'm responsible for a lot of stuff nobody else would really know how or have the responsibilty to do. Which - I believe if I can keep myself busy - which will be hard since it's winter now (so I'm going to keep a book on hand) I won't focus on the food. I did go for about 2 years resisting it, I can do it again. I've been offered jobs (like for what I went to school for) but they were farther off, at a less pay (some far less) and no insurance and it wasn't worth it. But I'll make it work somehow, some way! :)
