In which I do it again....

It's hard to believe I've been here at Sparkpeople for 8 years. It's been an interesting ride.

Since starting here I've been through a marriage, divorce, near-homelessness (rescued by a co-worker who needed a roommate at the last minute,) quit smoking 4 or 5 times, started smoking again 4 or 5 times, the yo-yo of substantial weight loss, gain, more loss, more gain, etc.

I am slowly piecing my life back together (at 40, it's probably well past time) and have had some amazing career advancements, a long-term relationship that actually seems stable (for once), got my kids nearly grown up, just started college again (hooray for having professors younger than me,) ended up quitting smoking again a few weeks ago without even meaning to (it just kind of happened on its own,) going back to the gym, and having a lot of success with tracking my intake and caloric burn.

It feels better this time. Like, something I'm just doing because it needs to be done, rather than because I feel like I have to (if that makes any sense at all.) I feel more strongly now than ever before that I've got this!

Glad to know everything came out ok for you. Man I hit a wall of physical exhaustion and was feeling so run down like I had a cold. I took a day off today and slept forever. I feel so much better.

I can relate at the moment. Zumba is going to be hard tomorrow morning.

lol. yeah. but i'm ok with that because going out to eat and spending time with my family and friends is so nurturing and a great support system. they are actually pretty great about not pressuring anyone to eat too much. i'm lucky that i come from a health conscious family. a lot of time my family and friends are willing to share an entree too, which helps.

what gets me is the liquor because i have a real hard time saying "no" to one, two or six beers. it doesn't take much to twist my arm. lol

Good for you. I always struggle with the food part. I realized I don't really eat when I'm sad or depressed but I definitely stress eat. But by far the biggest reason I eat poorly is social. That's a struggle to balance and I'm working on eating less and healthier at restaurants because not going out to eat is not an option for me. I hosted book club last night and I made a stew with lots of veggies instead of settling for our usual pizza. I'm getting better little by little.

I really hope you get to feeling better soon. Glad you are still kicking around here.
