HELPING MYSELF BY HELPING OTHERS

Born in the first half of the last century, I have now been a member longer than some of the Spark coaches. That makes me an old-timer. I joined Spark in May of 2005, before the change to the current format.

What caused me to join was an attempt to lose weight brought on by a time of deep depression caused by PTSD.

I continue with Spark to help me focus on an important part of my life, and to continue to interact with all the quick and dedicated minds here at Spark ...
Born in the first half of the last century, I have now been a member longer than some of the Spark coaches. That makes me an old-timer. I joined Spark in May of 2005, before the change to the current format.

What caused me to join was an attempt to lose weight brought on by a time of deep depression caused by PTSD.

I continue with Spark to help me focus on an important part of my life, and to continue to interact with all the quick and dedicated minds here at Spark People.

While here, I have become an advocate of "Humor is the Best Medicine" philosophy and on most days I will have a blog post that is either funny, sarcastic or very droll.

Everyone is invited for some unplanned core muscle building through laughter!

My Program:
2012 & 2013 saw intermittent bouts with PTSD and Depression, but I did stay even during those two years. I am bound and determined to get back into the 100's this year.

Depression episodes were more than I expected in 2011. I put together a "Motivational Music" CD to help with down mornings. I did manage to keep off #5.5, which, I guess, is better than adding to my in January of 2011.

I WILL prove my Endo Wrong!

When I had polio as a child, they told me I'd never walk without a limp, either. I lettered in cross country, track and football - then went on to become an Army officer and combat vet.

Stubbornness can be a positive trait.

Ok! You don't have to give me your opinion, really!
I hope I didn't scare you off, somehow by being brutally honest emoticon

I'm sure I did not, right?
My story is kinda depressing though. I hope it didn't upset you .

Thanks for your comments! My son is the same age as your granddaughter and enjoyed the book "Ender's Game". I got him to fill me in on the differences between the movie and the book. I stopped reading Sci-Fi when I was about 14 or so because I couldn't find any stories with good character development. (I'm sure they're out there; I just turned to other forms of fiction at that age.) Wow, you are a real old-timer on SparkPeople. It's great that you are still here and going strong, motivating people and making them laugh!

Welcome to Sparkies Down Under!

We are a vibrant team and love to exercise and learn how to nourish our bodies.

This will be the first day of the rest of your life.
So please introduce yourself to the team in our forum, and check out the challenges.

Our challenges are designed to help you to track your exercise and to learn how to nourish your body.
Portion control is most important, we need to realise that weighting and measuring your food is the key to loosing weight and keeping it off.

We have a huge support system, and several team leaders ..
We are here to help, advise and encourage you to be the very best you can be..

This is not a diet we are on, it is a way of life.

I can understand that you will find it hard at first, but as you continue your journey with us,you will realise just how simple and easy it is to adapt.
Once again, Welcome and enjoy your journey with us to fitness and health.

Susie.
