HELPING MYSELF BY HELPING OTHERS

Born in the first half of the last century, I have now been a member longer than some of the Spark coaches. That makes me an old-timer. I joined Spark in May of 2005, before the change to the current format.

What caused me to join was an attempt to lose weight brought on by a time of deep depression caused by PTSD.

I continue with Spark to help me focus on an important part of my life, and to continue to interact with all the quick and dedicated minds here at Spark ...
Born in the first half of the last century, I have now been a member longer than some of the Spark coaches. That makes me an old-timer. I joined Spark in May of 2005, before the change to the current format.

What caused me to join was an attempt to lose weight brought on by a time of deep depression caused by PTSD.

I continue with Spark to help me focus on an important part of my life, and to continue to interact with all the quick and dedicated minds here at Spark People.

While here, I have become an advocate of "Humor is the Best Medicine" philosophy and on most days I will have a blog post that is either funny, sarcastic or very droll.

Everyone is invited for some unplanned core muscle building through laughter!

My Program:
Depression episodes were more than I expected in 2011. I put together a "Motivational Music" CD to help with down mornings. I did manage to keep off #5.5, which, I guess, is better than adding to my start last year.

I WILL prove my Endo Wrong!

When I had polio as a child, they told me I'd never walk without a limp, either. I lettered in cross country, track and football - then went on to become an Army officer and combat vet.

Stubbornness can be a positive trait.

I'm waiting for your joke but I'm also concerned because you haven't responded to several who want you to tell the joke.
I hope you're ok....no, I hope you're more than ok! Darlene

Thank you for your comment on my blog. I'm amazed at how many people were able to relate to it and add their own stories. With all of the health challenges that you have had to overcome, I agree that whatever weight your doctors feel is right is exactly what you should be aiming for. I don’t think any formula would fit your situation and I admire your upbeat attitude as you move forward. Good luck to you.

Thank you for your (and your family's) service to our country. My grandfather also served in WWII as photo reconnaissance in the Phillipines, and my husband's whole family is military. He has 2more brothers who just returned home from Afghanistan last week, one that served in the Navy, and the other brother is a fireman/paramedic. His dad was a Vietnam vet (Army) and his grandfather was in WWII, a 42 month POW, part of the Bataan death march, and had an amazing story.

I really had little knowledge of military life until I met and married my hubby (5 years this upcoming Veteran's Day) so I always joke that I'm married to the Air Force lol! I just try to be as supportive to his career as I can be, and go with the flow. I've fortunately only had to endure one deployment so far. He's full time active duty, but he's a pre-deployment instructor so hopefully that keeps him close to home for the most part. He keeps me sane :D
