HELPING MYSELF BY HELPING OTHERS

I have been a member longer than May, 2006 - that's just when Spark converted everything from the old format to the new.

I have been very active on Spark and am one of the 6 Co-Founders of the largest team on Spark People, Dealing with Depression.

How do you know that you are addicted to SP? When you retire and can't stay away for more than two days at a time.

Hey, you've got to keep your brain active to keep the muscle strong, right? Right!

My Program:
A change in meds for diabetes, heart disease and depression caused my weight loss to get lost and I'm back to my original starting point.

My endocrinologist says the combination of meds I take makes my goal more than hopeful - actually, pretty much impossible.

When I had polio as a child, they told me I'd never walk without a limp, either. I lettered in cross country, track and football - then went on to become an Army officer and combat vet.

Stuborness can be a positive trait.

Thanks for the comment and info about dopamine and leptin. I'm learning more about hormone imbalances and impacts than I thought I'd ever know - but it's all useful to me, and helps me put everything in perspective. I agree, it's been a bit tough to find diabetic diet info on SP, I've been looking outside for recipe suggestions, etc. I'm basically trying to eat a low-cal, low glycemic index diet.

Bob... Thanks for the wonderful comment on my blog!!!! Things are fine today and actually found myself laughing about the thoughts I had yesterday... You gave me some great insight and I started this complete new lifestyle on Sept 1st and today was actually my first weigh in so I have lost 15 lbs so in all actuality I have 25 now to lose until January 28th!!! I did not update my ticker as I am only weighing in today, the 28th of November, the 28th of December and then On my Birthday!! So that is 13 weeks from tomorrow is although tangible at 1.92 lbs a week I am not making it a make or break me goal... I am just so glad to be feeling healthier and as long as a month from now I am still at 225 and have not gone back up and gotten unhealthier!!

oh and BTW Thanks for saying that I was an attractive lady and I have actually heard that I carry my weight well.. I really appreciate people like you and that is why I am here!!!! I will be adding you as a friend and will give the team a look!!! Thanks again and I am glad to be outta the funk that was this weekend!!

Thanks for the comments. I do tend to beat myself up over matters most people would be patting themselves on the back for, but then I'm a negative reinforcement kind of guy!

And yeah, that venison recipe is for sure a 'man meal', as opposed to those Hungry Man meals in the freezer section which should just be called heart attack on a plate.

Don't know how you stumbled onto my blog, but glad ya did!
