Last January, I really needed to decide to take control of my life. I started SparkPeople on January 2nd, 2007 and have never looked back.

My Goals:
I initially just wanted to lose weight, but I discovered that the weight loss was a part of the bigger life picture that I needed to change.

This was really important for me in order to overcome Depression (yes with a capital "D")

Spark People helps me "feel good".


My Program:
I am tracking all my intake using the marvellous food tracking facet of SP -- thank you -- it is amazing. I keep adding more things to monitor. As of late, I've been using the QuickTrack lately. Since I went back to teaching in September (yeah!) I just don't have the time on the computer. I also don't have a computer on my desk at work either. I may have to put my own there!

I am no longer the Computer Site Administrator. There's a technician doing that part now.

It's been a monkey off my back and I didn't even know it.

I was going to aquafit 3 times a week & doing the strengthening exercises at home! That is a real battle. I now have a membership at "Good Life" and really like the facilities. I do miss the pool.

I am looking at doing everything more healthy too.

- My posture
- Parking further from the door so I can do more walking.
- Walking instead of driving
- going up & down the stairs is not a drudgery, but helps

I'm a computer science teacher/accountant/Computer Site Administrator -- I love computers!

I'm from St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada

Other Information:
I tell everyone about SparkPeople.

I like being able to share why I've lost weight & about my goals.

When I went back to school the students & teachers were so surprized at my weight loss. It's a good opener to sparking them.

One of the teachers overheard the students talking about Mrs. Laney (me). How she was off on sickleave.. How she came back so skinny.. One said, "Yeah, I even heard she had Pilates!!" That is so funny. I will have to submit it to Readers Digest.
