I agree, you need the book! For me the book was more about learning why I was failing at other diets and why eating vegan works. There is so much information in the book that I thought I knew but just had NO idea! Very enlightening. :) I stayed on his 6 week plan (he says you can do it longer he just suggest 6 weeks so you can rid yourself of the cravings at least) for about 15 weeks. I just recently started putting some wheat things back into my diet but I'm still losing so that's cool! I'd let you borrow mine but I refer back to it all the time, like some would a bible! hehe You can find it used on amazon for less than 10.00 too.
