Enough of the tent, time for the temple...

I'm a wife of 20+ years, and a mom of five teenagers and one preschooler. At the age of 45, I have decided that if I do not do this NOW, it's not going to happen. I'm using three things to improve my health and fitness: the 30-Day Shred, a recumbent exercise bike, and calorie counting. Since I've never really tried losing weight before, I'm still figuring out what I'm doing. This is the first time I've ever used an exercise video (aside from a scary pregnancy one almost 20 years ago!), and the first time I've counted calories.

There are a number things I want to be able to do. I want to be able to go on long bike rides, without gasping for air ten yards out from our driveway! I want to be able to hike ten miles a day for a week.

More than that, though, I really want to be a better example for our kids. They really are pretty active, but they need to see their parents working on being active, too. I've threatened to buy a bikini after I reach my goal, but I'm not sure I'm ready to scar them for life yet!

Hi, I saw you commented on my message board post... if you are doing the video 5 or 6 days a week that's awesome! I just need to really discipline myself and need somebody to keep on me so I'm not lazy...I tend to slack off and it's hard to find people here who are really tough motivators because everyone is so nice!

OMG, you're not kidding!

I have never watched "The Biggest Loser," except for about 20 minutes online after I bought this video. I know Jillian's in it for the money, etc., that it's her job -- but she's very convincing in sounding sincere. I pretend that she actually cares (and I would guess either that she does, or that she's a REALLY good actress).
