Hello from Washington, DC

Hi-I am 57, have a beautiful 27 year old daughter and an amazing fiancÚ. I teach in a public school and love my job ....most of the time-lol! I have two beautiful pets that run around the apt and are like my children in every way.
Today I weigh 294. I actually just recently lost weight due to diverticulitis because last week I was 308. I came to Spark-people because I want to document my water and food intake and connect with others who have the same objectives to lose weight.

We laugh a lot as a family. I was attracted to my husband's sense of humor when we were dating. When my daughter got married last May, they did karaoke. Within a half an hour of being wed, her husband knelt down on one knee and sang, "You've lost that loving feeling" sung by The Righteous Brothers. I laughed until I cried.

I posted a blog about the eggs. I haven't tried this method of cooking eggs in the oven. I thought that when I am baking something else, I might put one egg in the oven if the other dish is baked at the same temperature, and see what happens. That way I wouldn't have a dozen eggs messed up, if I didn't like the results.

Wasn't that something about Jack/Sherlock the cat? I called nearly every day because he was so thin. I was afraid he might be put down. I stressed a lot over giving him to The Humane Society, but I have a rottweiler and she wanted to go after him. I am glad God had other plans for his life.

I hope you are well. My weight is up due to emotional eating.

Hi new friend,

I hope your day went well. My husband is off for a 3-day weekend and our son said he would come by today, Saturday, and cook for us on the grill outside. Then we plan, be the Lord Willing, to go see my nephew.

A nurse practitioner said to walk around the block and to do it twice a day. I have a rottweiler and when she sees another dog, she goes berserk on her leash. Last year I set a goal of doing 1,000 days of exercise, but I wanted it to be sessions of 10 minutes or longer. I didn't stick with it. In 2010, I lost 40 lbs, then quit. I was at 275 lbs. when I came back to restart again. One woman said, "If you fall down the steps and land on a landing, do you get up and throw yourself down the rest of the steps?" It seems that I do. So each day is new, with no mistakes in it. I can start over whenever I want to, but I really do want to see progress, not regression.

There is a woman here at Spark that has had a long streak of daily exercise. Her name is MOSTMOM1. She puts up videos that are funny and has been an inspiration to me. It was the owner of Spark People that came up with the 1,000 days which is about 2 3/4 years of exercise. I just want exercise to be something I do without thinking about it because that was how it was when I was a teenager.

I follow a lady called Flylady, Marla Cilley, to help me with housework. My parents didn't make me do chores when I was young, and I am a messy person. I look at myself and want to do differently and after years of trying my own ways which weren't successful, I found Flylady and Spark People. It was at a Yahoo site of women that talked about housekeeping that Spark People was mentioned. My Mom used to say, "I hope you learn before I die." She will be 91 in February, so I don't have long to get some habits established, lol.

I am glad you are here for your personal journey. I used to have cartoon of Ziggy. He was on the scale and the caption said, "My mother always said I would amount to something, but this isn't the amount I had in mind."

Thank you for the goodie and the comment about the Bible. We have had sickness in our house since December 1 st last year. This year is terrible for flu, sinusitis, strep and colds. I was really ready to have some chicken rice soup. I don't know how many cups it makes to be able to run it through Spark recipes. You can take your own recipe and look up the amount of each thing and add it to the recipe calculator and it will figure out how many calories and carbohydrates, etc. are in it. You do have to know how many servings it will make. I made a pot full of it. I am lazy and won't have to cook for a while. I hope you have a great weekend!
