1/3/11 Getting back on track! Lost a bunch of weight last year... then got complacent. Then summer came along and I had fun hanging out and drinking beer. Then winter came along and I had fun baking cookies... Now here I am again 15 lbs up from where I was. I felt SOOO good last year, I need to get back where I was. MIND OVER MATTER. That's all it takes. I am going to do it. And this time I am going to stick with it. The biggest problem I have currently is managing my stress and dealing with emotional eating. I eat when I have a free moment- and because I am so busy and have so few free moments, I binge during those times. This is stopping, NOW. Go me!!
9/23/10 I just turned 37. I have two daughters, ages 5 3/4 and just-turned 4. I also have a son, who is 16 months old as of this writing. I live in New Jersey and have been married to a wonderful man for 8 years.
I've been fairly 'normal' weight for most of my life, although never obese I probably fell into the overweight category once I went off to college and put on that "Freshman 15" but in my case it was more like 30. I really never thought about diet and exercise. I had my two daughters and then a gym opened up nearby. A bunch of my friends were signing up so I thought why not (I'd NEVER joined a gym before). I ended up signing up with a personal trainer to attempt to lose some weight...and lo and behold, I did. Between pregnancies 2 and 3 I managed to lose quite a bit of weight - down from a size 16 (bordering on an 18) to a size 10! I was very proud of myself.
Then I got pregnant again. With this third pregnancy, I managed to gain 52 lbs. (I'd gained more like 30 lbs with the other two). Once the baby turned 6 months old and started sleeping through the night I decided to kick it into high gear. It helped that it was also a new year, and a friend was having a 'biggest loser' contest too. 23 competitors... 12 weeks, lots of support. I was so disciplined with what I ate, that contest was so great for keeping me on track. My food logs are so beautiful from that time period!
In late March 2010, I won the contest! I had lost 23.6 lbs in 12 weeks and won $400. After the contest, I binged. I had several weeks where I was completely OFF the wagon. Then I tried to pull in the reigns and regain control... but the summer has been hard. Lots of parties with beer, wine, chips, hamburgers, well I guess it's been a great summer but I've lost something...
I've been searching around to see if I can figure anything out, I think there is a lack of self-love or something, I don't know how to figure it out but I'm gonna keep trying because I want to succeed at this game.
Fortunately I do still get to the gym several times a week, and it is my sanity. Staying home with three children on a daily basis is tough. So the gym classes are great for a break. And of course they are good for burning calories too.
I'd love to learn how to eat when HUNGRY. If I could do that, I'm sure this would be easy. :)
-Be comfortable in my own skin
-Break a sweat when I exercise
-Be personally satisfied so I can be a better person for my family
-Tone my body so there's less jiggle
-Eat healthier and cleaner
Joined Gold's Gym on Jan. 4, 2008. That's been the one consistent thing for me, even during my last pregnancy.
Now the program is simply to continue to exercise while eating right. Reducing my caloric intake now to lose lbs and then eventually just balancing what I eat.
