Life is getting Better

I have been fighting my weight since I was 5 years old. Now as I enter the second half of this life I want to finally win this battle, so I can enjoy myself more as my husband and I enter into retirement. We want to do more traveling and just enjoying life while we can.

When I started with Spark I just wanted to lose weight but now that I am halfway to my weight loss goal I am finding out I want more than that. I enjoy exercising, walking in particular and will be doing at ...

I enjoy exercising, walking in particular and will be doing at least 1 5K this year and who knows where that will lead maybe even longer distances.

I have found that when I eat healthy food I feel better and have more energy.

My Goals:
I want to finally get this weight off yet again and keep it off for good. I'm tired of fighting it and doing the yoyo thing. I joined SP May 2009, but didn't really get started seriously until late September.

My Program:
I plan to go slow and steady like the tortoise. Eating less, excersing more, and drinking more water and tea.

Personal Information:
My husband and I live out in the country on 20 acres in NW Missouri close to Smithville Lake with our female lab/pointer mix pup(12 years old but I still call her a pup) named Sadie. We are winter snowbirds that spend 3 months at Powell Park Marina on Lake Sam Rayburn in East Texas fishing.

I still work part-time when we are home.

I like to knit, crochet, and do decorative painting.

Other Information:
We love to travel in our 5th wheel and have taken some wonderful trips and had some great adventures during our 28 years of marriage. And yes our dog goes everywhere with us.

Yes, the face painting was pretty cool. When I bought the tickets the site read like a lot of things were included, as should have been for that price! Surprise! A lot of things were not. It cost Tim $12 to get TJ's face painted. He really enjoyed it though so I guess the whole thing was worth the cost. He will only be 6 once.
Hope you are having a great week!

To answer your question, yes, regular canned asparagus is soft when canned. I canned pickled asparagus and it is crisp. It is like dilly beans with a little different flavor. It has a little red pepper in it to give just a little bite to it. I froze some asparagus last year and was not happy with the results either. It is a little cooler here today. By Monday we a re supposed to be back to normal for this time of year. I will be glad. I like 70's much better than 90's. Hope you are having a great weekend!

Thanks, PJ for commenting on the blog. Hope by time for Shipshe that we have some of the train (engine and a few cars) on the track and running. If so I'll bring more pictures. And yes, that is my potting shed!!

I'm sure man and beast back there are tired of winter weather. If you guys make it out this way let me know and I will give you some info on things in the area like the dig. Of course I would love to see you again and meet your DH. Our first few stalks of asparagus froze. We had some 20 degree nights week before last. Now we are 70's and 80's for highs and 40's and 50's for lows. It is supposed to be near 90 by mid week. That is too warm too soon! Steve is setting out our plants in the garden this morning. Hope he is not jumping the gun!
Good to hear from you. Hope you guys are doing well.

The calendar says it's May, but it is cold, raining and snowing outside. One of the weather men said we were in the 89th day of February. That would be 28 days in February and 31 days in March and 3 1 days in April and now 2 day of May. LOL Thanks for you comment on my blog. Happy May Day. ((Hugs)) to you dear friend.
