I tend to downplay my progress, so I decided to revise my intro. I've gone from 205 to 159. I feel good about that. I have learned to swim, do laps and work out regularly now. I'm getting some ab muscles and my arms and legs look GREAT! I have more energy and less pain than I have had in years. Therefore, I am very happy with my fitness progress so far.
I am a 56 year old artist/teacher from southeastern Wisconsin. I have three grown married sons and a grandson and a wonderful husband who now works out with me.
I enjoy being on the message boards here to learn from others and give and get support on this journey. Maybe I enjoy it too much. I am on here a lot. I've made some acquaintances already. That is fun.
I originally said I wouldn't post and pictures or blog, but I did. The two photos I put up to the left are of me at 205 pounds before I started losing weight. I painted them because I felt I was disgusting. They are both watercolors, 30x42. The top image is titled Black is Slimming, as a joke, because it obviously didn't help me look any better. The middle image is titled 60's Clothes Don't Fit. Yes, I still have clothes from high school (my favorites). I plan to paint more at different body weights, especially fat vs, thinner, but I haven't gotten thin enough yet. HOPEFULLY, by March of 2009, the excess fat will be gone. Then I will continue to be here to maintain. The bottom image is an oil painting, 48x72, from my midlife crisis series. It is about what it is like to enter the dark cave of the unknown. I think I entered midlife crisis at about 50, figured I'd be out of that stage by now, but am still in it. Fear of aging and deterioating is HUGE! Actually, it is diminishing a bit since I am beginning to look and feel better. There is hope!
I want to get down to a healthy weight so I look and feel better. I am well on my way, but have that last 25 pounds to go.
I am doing everything SP is coaching me to do to reach my goal. No, I lied. I have to not eat so much candy.
Since August, 2008 I have added 40 minutes of weight machines, 30 minutes elliptical, 30 minutes treadmill and sometimes the stationary bike as a cooldown to my exercise routine. I also swim 2-3 hours a week, depending on if I can get myself out of bed early for the 3rd day.

When not teaching, painting or being on the computer excessively, I like to read and write in my journal. I like to sit on the deck and relax with my hubby. We bike ride together. I LOVE to travel and want to explore as many places as I can before I die.
